Interview with Virgil Goode: How Do We Elevate Constitutional Principles?
Forbes ^ | 28 Aug 12 | Bill Flax

Posted on 08/29/2012 6:46:58 AM PDT by xzins

...Virgil Goode has long supported a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, which recently cleared the House. He advocates “currency that is real and backed by gold or silver.”

Goode champions “fair and equitable opportunity, but it’s up to you to use it. Government cannot ensure equal results because every individual differs;”

An ardent proponent of balancing the budget, our deficits Goode insists, stem from “spending.” “Taxes should be simple and fair … I’m not for increasing income taxes; if we even have an income tax.”

The candidate laments “too much federal involvement in our lives” offering as an example the Department of Education, “should not be involved, schooling should be determined by states and localities …

“Government forcibly redefining marriage to include anything other than one man and one woman would be totally foreign to the views of the framers of the Constitution, first ten amendments and Declaration of Independence.”

Goode denies that the Founders, men of “deep-seated values,” would consider a cross on the town square or the Ten Commandments posted at school “as un-constitutional... public displays “aren’t forcing religion on anyone,

He adamantly opposed our Libyan debacle

Goode implores “following the Constitution, we can’t let the UN decide” clarifying “I don’t mind working with allies like we did in World War One and Two, but I’d never let U.S. troops serve under UN command. ...

“I’m totally opposed to illegal immigration and will put a moratorium on new Green Cards until unemployment reduces. Jobs should [go] to U.S. citizens first.” Goode would “eliminate automatic birthright citizenship”

Going the third party route is admittedly precarious ... unless living in a key battleground state, it’s unlikely your vote matters much. Likewise, for the many voters (that) might stay home, pulling the lever for Goode seems sound.

From the context, I don’t think he meant that.

Great verse, though.

"Look, I despise Romney, but we have a situation whereby a single man will destroy this country, if he is not stopped. "

C'mon man no single man can destroy this country. Elect a Conservative Congress if you are concerned. What has been eating away the country is voters wasting their vote by giving a mandate to persons they don't agree with. The choices then keep getting worse until you have the destruction.

You cannot compartmentalize your Christianity or apply filters to which scenario you remain loyal to Christ and those you will not be loyal to Christ. “...soconpubbie...

I suppose we just have to bite the bullet, and allow the Muslim Communist to destroy our country(the last real bastion of Christianity and world-wide Christian evangelism, mind you)...You say it is God’s will that we allow western civilization to collapse,... SJB...

here goes my .02...

i believe both are correct and wrong, due primarily in the sense that we cannot comprehend Gods nature, much less His Plan...

i believe that for myself to vote *for* mittens is a bad choice, because it perpetuates the perceived lock that the rin-o-p has on my vote, every 4 yrs playing the FEAR card, and daring me to say "HELL NO !!!"

also, principles-wise, or morally, i cannot do it, not because mittens is a sinner [we all are] or because i believe that it will taint me in the eyes of God [been there, done that and Lord Jesus must cleanse me of new transgression each day]...quite simply, he just repulses me, and i dont see the few scraps of difference to be worth my endorsement *for* him...

CHRISTianity-wise, i believe we are all a part of the body, and serve our functions to the universal Church at His tasks...throughtout the ages, some have been passive and were martyrs... some have been aggressive and violent crusaders...most somewhere in between...

Peter lopped off the ear of the high priests cousin, and later allowed himself to be crucified w/o a fight...

which of those attitudes were 'right' or 'wrong' ??? i say they were both done in service to the Lord, so they were exactely what needed to be done, in their respective times and places...

I dont fear bambam...nor do i fear mittens...i FEAR God, and will try to perceive and do my job, according to the small, still voice that leads me [when i allow it to do so]...today, as of this writing, I will write-in the name of Lord Jesus, and hopefully, millions of others will do so as a testament of true repentence...

dont know if this makes any sense, but i do know that voting the lesser of evil men has not been workin out too well, and i have been a LOT less anxious about this campaign cycle in knowing that God is going to have His Will done, no matter which human takes the election...

” ” Nowhere in the Bible did God, His Prophets, Christ, or his Apostles declare that his commands were situational. In fact, quite the opposite is true. He demands 100% of our will, not 90%, not 95%, not even 99%. We can’t pick and choose the situations that we are going to apply God’s laws and commands to; it does not matter if you actually believe or fear that Obama has the power to bring this nation to it’s knees.”

If we are indeed THIS pure, Jesus wasted his blood. Moreover, we can never vote for any politician.
I’ll wait for someone else to cast the first stone. I’m certainly not qualified.

Financially, he has almost done it, and will complete the deal if kept in power. I’m certain may people said the same about Hitler, Stalin, and others. Meanwhile over 100 million have died for the “cause”. And who would stop his daily “Executive Orders” ? Not Boehner or McConnell. They are scared to death of him.

Considering his post, the context is perfect. He just gave you some more context, the verse is still perfect.

The fact is plain: Allowing an avowed Marxist, a slick atheistic, muzzie leaning enemy of all things good and right, one who clearly against all you love and believe in to win again as a result of some purity test is simply not a good thing, nor a right thing to do.

Are two buds still arguing about this? Or is it yesterday?

is it possible that one of you could refuse to vote and the other can vote for Romney? Or are you two Siamese twins.

Look I got serious problems here,. A few Mitt Bots are calling me an agent of Obama for making jokes about Ann. They have no sense of humor.

You think Ann could prepare ‘cup of soup’ by herself in an emergency??? OPPPS, I did it again, bad, bad

No kidding. But Romney isn’t running against Ronald Reagan, he is running against a Muslim communist dictator, whose acts & deeds are clearly satanic. Nobody is voting FOR Romney, they are voting to STOP Obama. I will not allow a vicious, evil man to destroy this country without a fight.

The idea that we shouldn't fear what this man will do if reelected, or that the GOPe has tricked us into fearing what he will do is fatuous.

I've watched what this guy has done already, and it really is a fearful thing, much like what Hitler, Stalin, Castro, and Chavez did in their countries in their early years. I have no doubt Bambi will follow in their footsteps if he is reelected. He hates America, and wants it brought down, to think he can't succeed is to have your head in the sand (or worse).

I understand your intent, SJ. You're thinking that we can't do everything, that we're sinners, that Christ died for our sins, and that we must rely on God's grace.

I agree with that., and I agree with it even for the Christian life.

However, the instructions of Jesus and the Apostles are still their instructions. Here is the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3 on the subject.

Philippians 3:7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

.

Thank you. I don’t see how it is the right thing to do in the eyes of God, either. We are not lemmings.

How 'bout this Preacher?

I'll vote against 0bama by pulling the lever for Romney & Ryan, and if I've made the wrong decision, I'll account to Almighty God for it, and so too will lots of other folks who didn't measure up to your morally superior positions.

It's an imperfect world, with imperfect situations, and you can preach 'til the cows come home, and if 0bama wins that second term, maybe you'll get invited to be Chaplain of the Senate or something, because you will damn sure have earned it.

I'm done with this crap, you do what you want, I'm going to do everything I can to get that filthy Communist sonuvabitch out of the White House whether anybody likes it or not.

If Obama wins, you won’t have to worry about your vote every 4 years. You will be too busy trying to survive in a couple of them : )

Look, I didn’t vote for Bush the second time, because I saw what he was....a big spending NWO/globalist, open borders schmuck. I didn’t vote for McCain either. We don’t have that luxury this time. This time, it’s for “all the marbles”

Vote as you will. I hold no animus towards you guys. Just understand whats at stake. For some of you, your vote won’t matter, anyway. California and Maryland are beyond redemption.

In all deference to Philippians 3:7, my point was that if we are to defer “100%” to absolute truth(which I maintain we are incapable of), we cannot vote for any politician. As SoCon stated ..

” Nowhere in the Bible did God, His Prophets, Christ, or his Apostles declare that his commands were situational. In fact, quite the opposite is true. He demands 100% of our will, not 90%, not 95%, not even 99%. We can’t pick and choose the situations that we are going to apply God’s laws and commands to”

Hmmmm..If the year was 1942, and you were hiding 12 Jewish children in your basement, and an SS guy comes to the door, and asks if you are hiding any Jews, do you lie?

Look, I am not well versed in biblical exegesis/ hermeneutics. I get my understanding of God from the Bible, and scholars like N.T. Wright, Jim McGuiggan, and my minister. To blithely state that some things in this world are not “situational” is to stare reality in the face, and deny it. I can’t do that.

I will not allow a vicious, evil man to destroy this country without a fight.

you speaking of bambam or mittens...???they both fit the description, just one a lil more blatantly than the other...

instead of wasting my serenity and energy for the next couple months, debating the obvious that neither are good for the country, Id rather enjoy what time I have left before the real fight...

Vote as you will. I hold no animus towards you guys. Just understand whats at stake

we all will, due to the fact we have *secret* ballots...

I really only chimed in because you pinged for input...i realize that evil lurks amongst us, and in the highest offices, as this is satans playground for a time...

and as i stated earlier, we all have a role to play, our *choices* being whatever the Lords Will is for us individually...

if i thought i had any real ability to alter the Plan of God, as i used to, Id be a fool...

in short, it looks like we all will simply have to do whats in our hearts, and prepare, as always, to carry the Word, no matter the temporal situation...

and yes, those preparations include some being martyrs and some being crusaders...
