Palin's worst critics have no decency
The Washington Examiner ^ | September 18, 2011 | Gregory Kane

Desperate. That's what critics and detractors of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin are getting, and she hasn't even announced she's running for president yet. Can you believe these people are playing, of all things, the Glen Rice card?

Here's how this bit of non-news got started. Author Joe McGinniss wrote a book entitled "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin." It's supposed to be an expose of the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.

In the book, McGinniss claims that Palin had an affair with one of her husband's business partners. According to various news reports, both Palin and the business partner have denied that allegation.

McGinniss also claimed that in 1987, when Palin was Sarah Heath and a sports reporter for an Alaska television station, she had a one-night stand with Glen Rice, then a star player for the University of Michigan. (The Wolverines hoops squad was in Alaska for a basketball tourney called the Great Alaska Shootout at the time.)

So McGinniss had to go back 24 years, to a time when both Sarah Heath and Rice were consenting adults, to dig up what he considers "dirt" on the woman now known as Sarah Palin?

As I said, it's an act of desperation. But Palin-bashers are lapping it up. Here are just a few comments I found on Facebook:

"She's a cheap slut."

"No wonder she's always so nasty; she's missing Mr. Big Stuff! LOL!"

"You don't want that trash after you. God knows what she's got. She certainly doesn't have any sense of birth control." (The translation of this comment, from liberal-ese to regular, down-home English, is that Palin doesn't believe in sucking unborn children down a tube.)

So Palin is a "slut" and "trash." Ah, the civility of those on the left. Don't you just love it?

It occurs to me that it wasn't too long ago when one of their guys -- that would be former President Clinton -- was found to have committed certain sexual acts with a certain intern in the White House. Nobody on the left ever called him "trash." If anything, he became more popular with those on the left.

Liberals and lefties tend to ratchet up their standards when it comes to conservatives and Republicans. Rice is a black man, so the revelation that Palin had a one-night stand with him meant those on the left couldn't fall back on their old reliable standby: that everybody on the right is racist.

So they had to whip out their "slut-trash" card, forgetting all about that business of Clinton inserting a cigar into one of Monica Lewinsky's orifices when he was the nation's chief executive.

This outrageous hypocrisy and double standard has even been noted way up in Canada. CBC commentator Rex Murphy wrote a Sept. 17 piece for the National Post highlighting the difference in how most of the American media treated Barack Obama during his 2008 candidacy and Palin:

"Much of the Obama coverage was orchestrated sycophancy," Murphy wrote. "They glided past his pretensions. ... They ignored his arrogance. And they averted from his every gaffe -- such as the admission that he didn't speak 'Austrian.'

"The media walked right past the decades-long association of Obama with the weird and racist pastor Jeremiah Wright. ... The media trashed Hillary [Clinton]. They burned Republicans. They ransacked Sarah Palin and her family."

The media, Murphy continued, "turned Rottweiler" on Palin. They considered Obama "sacred, classy, intellectual and cosmopolitan," while they considered Palin "malevolent, trashy, dumb and pure backwoods-ignorant."

I'm betting Murphy never read that Facebook comment about Palin being "trash." And I'm also betting that he knows the American mind better than most of Palin's detractors do.

McGinniss doesn’t care about Palin or her getting elected. All the boy cares about is the money. He just jumped aboard the gravy train and knows that the liberal morons will shell out all of their money to read a “book” that smears Palin. It’s all about the money. Right Joey boy?

“Can you believe these people are playing, of all things, the Glen Rice card?”

That really was disgusting.

Why is this writer and others around here keep assuming that the Rice/Palin thing is true? Those people who actually previewed the book notes that Glenn Rice never stated nor claim that any sort of impropriety happen, he’s not even asked if he had relations with her.....it’s just that the Creep said he thinks it happens by trying to ask leading questions

Are we to assume that Gregory Kane assumes the Glen Rice story is 100% true? That’s how I took Kane’s article.

Didn’t Sarah Palin a few months ago copyright her name so that anyone who tries to profit off of her name and likeness will have to pay her royalties? I don’t want that child peering perv McGinnis to get one dime from this book. I wonder if Sarah has a case here to ensure that this clown doesn’t make a dime off of this book

Since she is not a politician running for anything, it would seem as though she would have a case against little Joey. Maybe that’s what is going on here. She never said she was running for anything. She might be setting all of the little commie piggies up for lawsuits. She’s a private citizen.

If so, she can file suit and still has plenty of time to jump in. Ultimate irony (not stopping her from running AND she sues with a strong case...plenty of free face time in the media) and Dem/PDS heads begin exploding everywhere ;)

Oldest trick in the book. Talk about it as though it were a foregone conclusion.

This is how the media perpetrates most of their lies.

Still, didn’t Bill Clinton have sex with a black man and the press did the Monica thing to cover it up?

That’s my problem as well! Again, according to those who actually read that portion of the book, Rice never claim anything went on between him and Palin, it’s was that creep writer who said that he thinks something went on. Everybody on the news assumed what the National Enquire said about Rice confirming it to McGinnis was fact when in actuality, Rice never made such claims (notice that Rice is real quiet, right now)

It doesn’t work that way. By her fame, she is still considered a “public person” in terms of libel and slander laws. It doesn’t matter that she’s not an office-holder or a candidate. She’s still voluntarily in the public spotlight often which makes her as much a public person as O.J. Simpson, which means proving libel or slander is very difficult.

Yeah, I saw you and I were posting the same thought at the same time. Logically, you have an African American NBA star from Michigan - in other words, the chances that Rice is anything but a liberal Democrat is probably less than 1% statistically. If he had this “notch” on his belt, I can’t imagine him staying quiet. It would be urban legend among the entire NBA community and it would not be a secret.

If so, I’ve been right all my life. The majority of our “laws” DO suck.

Some say that Obama would LOVE to do Glen Rice - but had to settle for Kumar instead...
