I hope I'm posting this in the right place and I'm doing it the right way. I did a search and couldn't find an answer. I know there are "ping" lists for people interested in certain subjects. I'm a planetary astrophotographer and would like to be on a "space" ping list and also have a great interest in archaeology, in particular Biblical archaeology. Could someone explain to me how the "ping" lists work? Apologies in advance if I'm asking in the wrong play and wrong way.
You’ve been here 7 years and haven’t figured it out? Anyway, ask the poster of the thread if there is a ping list for the topic. If he’s not the keeper of this list, someone will chime in and perhaps direct you to who’s that person.
If there is no ping list on a given subject that interests you, you could just start your own. Simply announce your new list and FReepmail other people who you think might be interested.
Hope this helps.
There is an Astronomy Picture of the Day thread. I did not notice that the poster has a ping list. You can find these posts by doing a keyword search on Astronomy.
At one time there was a thread for all the ping lists. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it, but you might try searching for that.
Thank you. I’ve had an account for 7 years or so, but it got nuked by a moderator on day one because I didn’t quite understand the posting guidelines and they thought I was some type of a shill. After sending out a few e-mails today, my account was reactivated. Hence the “apologies if I’m posting this in the wrong place”.
*Spellchecker approved.*
SunkenCiv is the guy you wanna talk to for both of your ping list interests...
Thank you!
He may stop by and if you post to him and ask him nicely he will add you to his list.
Arthur can tell you how....
Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.
LOL!
I wonder if he still posts.
Thanks for that. Don’t know how I missed that thread.
Wholebunchalotta FReeper names there that I havn’t seen in quite a while.
Also remember, if you’re on a list, and it’s not your cuppa tea, just ask them to take you off. Most members of FR are fine with that. I’ve joined and unjoined many lists. I’ve never had a problem with requesting to be off a list.
Save for later!
Fishtalk is compiling a more up to date pinglist lsit:

I think there have been several attempts here for a master ping list thread over the years. Maybe Jim can post a link to the ping list.
