Wow, I appreciate the candor. IYO, Freedom of association and self governance is a lie, just wow.
Pretzel (ill)logic, as provided by the delusional or deceitful.
“We have always been at war with Eastasia”
Nonsense.
But I appreciate that you seem hard-wired against seeing the truth of the matter.
Sure, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas, did not join the Deep South's Confederacy until after Davis ordered the firing on and taking of Fort Sumter, which Lincoln declared a "rebellion", giving Virginia the excuse it thought it needed to secede.
Those are facts not in dispute.
But the Deep South's original secession was done, in Madison's words: "at pleasure" -- for no legitimate reason such as "mutual consent," or Federal "abuses" and "usurpations."
The South compounded its illegitimate secession with unlawful seizures of dozens of Federal forts, ships, armories, etc., and illegal firing on Federal forces.
And even before Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas formally joined it, the Confederacy had already declared war on the United States!
So your state, pal, knew that it was going to war before it seceded.
Virginia had to want war to join the Confederacy!
So Virginia wanted war, and they got war.
What possible grounds for complaint are there?
;-)
