So you think the Government should be able to tell a Private Business how they operate? And no, I am not speaking of worker safety issues or pollution rules.
The Civil Rights Act should have only dealt with Government run facilities or Private Businesses that receive Government funding.
The Free Market will determine the availability of products or services. When one business doesn't serve the needs of a segment of society, another business will. Competition in a Free Market will always find its way, just like water finds its way.

Totally agree. Woolworths shouldn't have been FORCED to integrate. I wish it was all economic, like the Montgomery bus boycott, which brought the city to its knees. Discrimination is stupid, and punished by the marketplace. Woolworths could have advertised that they welcome ALL people, and likely would have increased business considering the population demographics.
It breaks my heart to know that bigotry like that existed. But businesses could have made big $ by being on the cutting edge.
