You can love Palin without wanting her to be president (Journolist Alert)
Politico ^ | 8/30/10 | Journolist Liberal Ben Smith, pissant's latest hero

Posted on 08/30/2010 9:55:57 AM PDT by pissant

A new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll offers what is, I think, a somewhat misleading way to look at Sarah Palin.

The poll finds that 59% of Americans and 40% of Republicans don't think she'd make an "effective president" -- numbers that come very close to disqualifying her even in the primary, if she chooses to run.

This trouble imagining President Palin is constant across the polling since soon after she was chosen as John McCain's running mate, and it reflects both her own lack of experience and the higher bar set for a woman -- Hillary Clinton did years of carefully projecting the kind of strength Mark Penn thought she needed to show to be a plausible contender. (Holmes and Traister think there's now space for a Palin on the left, but the poll numbers suggest otherwise to me.)

In any case, however, it's possible to adore and follow a political leader without wanting him or her to be President of the United States, or even thinking he or she is qualified. The most frequently drawn parallel with Palin is Jesse Jackson -- popular and respected on much of the left for a time, at least, seen as presidential by smaller numbers.

But the Daily Show's Jon Stewart may be a better example.

Since I don’t think they should even be able to vote, what makes you think I’d want one as CIC.

Let's turn our outrage into something more constructive. At least you are willing to engage with discussion no matter how we disagree. I respect that which is very much unlike some of the other cowards in here. So, thank you.

1) Mainstream Christianity is predominantly Catholic in America. Which does not share the dual covenant idea with Palin.

2) Obviously her devotion to Israel is rooted in her version of Christianity. Not unlike Hagee, Palin believes we do God's work when engaged in war that ultimately helps Israel, hence her policy with Iran and the like. This even though Korea is far more of a loose cannon to the world than Iran. This even as communist China gets stronger and stronger.

Palin:
“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right also for this country” and pray “that our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure we're praying for: that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan.” What does she consider God's plan? I would like to see God's map of the Middle East. What would it look like?

Sarah Palin displayed an Israeli flag in her governor’s office in Juneau, even though she has never been to the country, and attends Protestant evangelical churches that consider the preservation of the state of Israel a biblical imperative. She believes he blesses those who bless Israel. What does it mean to bless Israel? Does that mean her salvation is directly connected to the state of Israel? To me America becomes a means to an end.

I think her radically religious foreign policy is that she will get a free pass to the afterlife by using America as the war machine that will rebuild the MiddleEast in a matter which is consistent with her biblical belief that she shares with Hagee.

Is that what it says at the link provided...?

Are you answering my question with a question?

Didn't even bother reading it, then, before launching into the online martyr act. Gotcha.

Just doing my best to stop the coronation. You want FR to be SarahRepublic?

Now, when I see a pissant, I step on it with enjoyment...thinking of you.

You are one of the few people on FR that I'd like to really meet.

You do real credit to your screen name and you are every bit as annoying as your name sake.

The current occupant of the Oval Office has so lowered the bar for Presidential qualifications that you could dance the limbo to it.

As to Ms. Palin, I'm reserving judgment for several reasons: first - it's way too early (not even mid-term yet) and the field is completely undefined. Second - the GOP is a party very much in flux. So much so, in fact, that it could yet implode or splinter. Third - the Democrats, for their part, are a party on the verge of a nervous breakdown. They have moved so far to the Left under Obama that "unhinged" is their New Normal. Finally, I believe the economy is on the edge of a bad autumn and a bad fall. Only one of those is intended to describe a season.

I'm content to let all of the foregoing play out, and then see who among the cream rises to the top, and which amidst the scum sinks to the bottom.

Just like "Concern Troll", right?

Kent is the arbiter of people's motives.

Typical liberal.

Guess you've been in Seattle a little too long.

Gotcha.

LOL, congratulations (lame)

So pissant isn’t arguing from principle but from prejudice. There is no arguing with that.

The Politico article is meaningless banter. The real question is in post number 1, posed by me.

I did read it, and it is just as I said.

Liar.

YOU: "In other words, anyone who says “I like Sarah Palin, but...” is a concern troll?"

DEFINITION: "In an argument (usually a political debate), a concern troll is someone who is on one side of the discussion, but pretends to be a supporter of the other side with "concerns". The idea behind this is that your opponents will take your arguments more seriously if they think you're an ally. Concern trolls who use fake identities are sometimes known as sockpuppets."

Pitiful. Just pitiful. ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Sarah’s concentration is also on the November elections! I’ts the lame steams that focuses on her 24/7 worried sick that she’s going to run. They’re still attacking her and trying to bring her down. Sickening, but she just keeps doing everything right and campaigning her heart out for others grabbing the nation headlines from her essays on FaceBook and even her Tweets. It’s uncanny!

Thanks, but I didn’t ask for a picture of you.

Resorting to namecalling, yet another Liberal Kent tactic. It’s a wonder you have lasted this long on FR.

The funny part is, my definition and the one provided are congruent. So you are either being disingenuous or unintelligent.

Go back to DU, where you childish pictures, posts and namecalling are more appropriate.

FR is from grown ups.

... and I'll be here long, lonnnnnnnnng after you're eventually (and inevitably) ZOTted. Chew on it, n00b.

my definition and the one provided are congruent.

Sure, I guess I can see why the whole "double-down-on-lying-in-public" thing might appeal to a fundamentally dishonest clown shoes type such as yourself, I s'pose. I mean, you've already been well and truly busted, after all; "can't be hung twice for stealing the same horse," as the saying goes... right? ROTFLMAO!!!!!

FR is from [sic] grown [sic] ups.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Dismissed, 'wipe.

What’s a “concern troll”?

Someone that claims to be the number one fan of a frontrunning candidate, that loves the candidate, etc etc, but spends the entire thread, every thread, posting why that candidate can't win, should not be nominated, etc, etc.

Read GlockThe Vote's posts on this thread for a shining example.
