Abe Lincoln was a dictator??? (Need Help combating loony argument)
Posted on 04/19/2010 8:18:35 AM PDT by erod
Hi FRiends,
I have two brothers who I love very much, theyre young and libertarian Ron Paul supporters, sigh. We get along and Im hoping that one day theyll come back to conservatism, but they have bought into a theory that I dont think makes much sense:
Abe Lincoln was a dictator.
There are many websites dedicated to this nonsense you can Google "Abe Lincoln dictator" and get some weird stuff, if you want to check it out.
I need your help in busting this myth are there any books I can read on this subject to dispel this stuff? Do you know any of the arguments to combat this nonsense? Ie. Lincoln did not want to free the slaves.
Thanks for taking time out of your day to help me out, -Erod

I cannot make it better known than it already is, that I strongly favor colonization. Lying Lincoln So did James Monroe. So did John Breckenridge. So did Robert Lee.

You can laud those spineless, gutless yankees that waged war on a third of the population to keep them chained, so that they could continue to plunder the states for their own benefit. Almost 95% of Southern wealth was plundered by yankees between 1861 and 1874, first by the morally superior yankee military looting Southern homes and women, then by military/reconstruction governments comprised of yankees that plundered state treasuries, actions that took almost a century to recover from. So post away from your moral high ground and condemn those that had the GUTS to secede, condemn those that joined their ancestors in desiring to live under a government of their choosing. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Blah, blah, blah.

“I havent seen people defending slavery.”
Funny how all of us slave masters are behind every blade of grass, huh? Nice to meet you, Magnolia Blossom. I’ll bet you’re a steel magnolia in your own right:) Don’t worry about being 145 years old, the way I feel, I’m not far behind ya!

One irony is that in the Union slave states of Maryland, Delaware, and Kentucky Lincoln occupied them with Federal troops to prevent them from seceding but did not interfere with slavery in those states during his lifetime. Occupied? More bullshit.
Wall Street in New York was one of the BIGGEST slave markets of its day.
And which were replaced by Charleston. And Richmond. And Memphis. And New Orleans.

The problem they all have is that they are defending the destruction of the Jeffersonian republic during the Civil War as proof we still live in a republic. If they would just admit we live in a RINO (A republic in name only)dictatorship I could at least consider them as serious people.

But his rabid hatred of the South and anyone that lives there and loves it makes him so fun to annoy. And your rabid hatred for the North does the same for you. I swear one can almost see your mouth foaming and your vein throbbing with every post you make.

“Complete idiocy.”

Perhaps it's not "rabid hatred, etc." that animates him, so much as utter contempt for the idiots who attempt to defend the slave-holding South by actively denying the very institution in defense of which they seceded, fought, and ultimately were conquered. Bingo.

bottom feeder = Lincoln apologist.
Cat fish are bottom feeders yet have a purpose as food, so the analogy is not perfect as Lincoln apologists have no purpose.

Read some history. Even your own propaganda, linked to by another slave defender listed slavery as a reason.

He does have a particular way of bringing new meaning to the term bottom-feeder... Maybe that's why they have such an affinity for catfish?
