You are putting words in my mouth with this statement. Never a wise point from which to argue. You know not my views on the origins of slavery nor my views on the institution itself.

Pretty much sounds like out current government. Why are you so obsessed with slavery? It’s over, it was over long before you were even born. Stop feeling guilty, you are eating yourself up inside.
Please explain why the origins of slavery in human history matter one iota. The south was wrong to secede and go to war in order to perpetuate their “right” to own other humans.
Trying to defend this is inexcusable.
I’m not black. But I do wonder what a black person thinking about checking out conservative politics would make of a thread like this, full of people defending slavery.

You are putting words in my mouth again. I intimated to you that its never a wise position from which to argue. There isn’t one single post of mine which defends the origins of slavery nor the institution of slavery. Hmmmm.....wonder what that makes your statement? Would you like to reconsider?
The Civil War was as much about slavery as the revolution was about tea.
You can laud those spineless, gutless yankees that waged war on a third of the population to keep them chained, so that they could continue to plunder the states for their own benefit. Almost 95% of Southern wealth was plundered by yankees between 1861 and 1874, first by the morally superior yankee military looting Southern homes and women, then by military/reconstruction governments comprised of yankees that plundered state treasuries, actions that took almost a century to recover from. So post away from your moral high ground and condemn those that had the GUTS to secede, condemn those that joined their ancestors in desiring to live under a government of their choosing.

I find it amusing that he has such a deep seated hatred of the South, the people that live there, and anything that is Southern... also the fact that after all this time has passed, he is so obsessed with slavery. You would think it was going in right now. Well it is sort of, only it’s us and the government is our slave master.
