Sarah Palin said Wednesday that the embattled chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) is "doing a great job."
During an appearance on conservative commentator Sean Hannity's show on the Fox News Channel, Palin said, "I support Michael Steele.... I think he's doing a great job. Michael Steele is an outsider. The machine, I think, is tough to penetrate... I think it's been good to have an independent outsider trying to create some change in the Republican Party."
The former Alaska governor's remarks are in sharp contrast to the comments of other leading Republicans, who have criticized Steele in recent months.

You just rehash the same old tendentious statements without saying anything new.
I knew you were down at the level of personal attack.
So what is she supposed to say when Hannity asks her what she thinks of Michael Steele?
A "no comment" is as good as a condemnation.
Right now the last thing we need is to eat our own.
Plenty of criticism can take place behind closed doors.
If the Republicans don't unify they will lose in Nov. and 2012.
From the video I've seen, Michele Bachmann can be seen nodding in agreement with Sarah has she is talking about Steele.
Does that Bachmann a RINO too?
Won't work. Sarah may not run, but if she does she will win.
If you look at the video, Sarah started out saying that Steele could be voted out in a few months. She then blurted out quickly as a followup that he "was doing a great job".
I think her main point was that Steele could be replaced shortly and that she only added the "great job" part because she didn't want to get into a showdown with Steele at such a critical point in this election cycle.
While I count her McCain support as a wrong decision, I do not count this as the same.
Why not tell the truth like the NC GOP Chair has done?
Or
“I would like to see Michael Steele make more changes at RNC to make it into a lean, fighting machine to go into the 2010 elections. Michael Steele inherited a organization that needed total revamping.” or words to that affect.
If she couldn't come out to condemn Steele's blatant race baiting, she could at least have done what politicians and diplomats have always done. Give a non-answer, answer.
“Steele is the RNC Chairman. The RNC needs all the support it can get to help us beat the Dmocrats in November. There is an RNC election in January for those not happy with things to make their opinions known”
From the video I've seen, Michele Bachmann can be seen nodding in agreement with Sarah as she is talking about Steele. Does that Make Bachmann a RINO too?
I wouldn’t say Michael Steele is “doing a great job,” BUT he is an outsider! All you have to do is read NRO’s “The Corner,” and Byron York’s latest column.
The Republican establishment vehemently opposed him during the election for the chairmanship. After his election, they immediately began questioning his ability to fund-raise until he proved successful at that. Then they began jumping on every little gaffe he made, no matter how out of context they had to stretch it. Now, according to Byron York, “insiders” are looking to hang albatross NRC scandals around his neck.
It is hard to see where Steele is doing a good job! BUT HE IS AN OUTSIDER, opposed by the Republican establishment!
Palin was partly right.
So I guess that her backing Michelle Bachmann in Minnesota, Doug Hoffman in NY-23, Marco Rubio in Florida (if I’m not mistaken) and Allen West in FL-22 is totally irrelevant, huh. IMO, just because someone makes mistakes doesn’t mean tey’re RINOs.
Put that RINO label up yours where the sun don’t shine.Any Freeper using that term is a POS.
McCain is a RINO. So is Romney.
Do you disagree or agree?
I do not assume that DEMS do not watch this site. Therefore, do not think I will hang dirty laundry in public to air so they can set their attack dogs to keep you mad and also from kicking them out.
They laugh when you attack me.
And the DEMS Love these posts.
You didn’t answer my question.
Do you agree or disagree that McCain and Romney are RINOs?
