I spent almost 10 years in Seattle, very low cloud cover and nonstop rain, but now since we moved back home (our 7th year back) it’s breaking me, it must be old age.

I resolve to totally get tough, I made a promise to myself that no matter how bad things get, whether from this sickness or another, I will die on my feet, at home with my family. Not saying I’m dying or anything, but just had a friend that did and it got me to thinking, I don’t want to go like that.

Anyway, enough of this depressing talk of mine, I see others go through this around here and it helps just knowing that.

Thanks everyone ...

Hang in there, brother.

If you are on this board, then you are aware that this country is at the brink of disaster, and you know that if it fails, the world will be cast into a global dark ages under tyranny.

There are many, including myself, who struggle with this every day.

Don’t discount that it may be affecting you profoundly.

But as others have said: 1. keep the faith, 2. pray, 3. get out in the sun if that’s what you need, 4. DO WHAT YOU ENJOY and 5. IF YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK FROM POLITICS/CURRENT EVENTS, DO SO!!! Listen to music you love, go places you love to go to, do fun things. Life’s too short to get caught up in darkness and strife.

“...very low cloud cover and nonstop rain...”

After 12 years in Seattle one would think I’d be used to it. But I’m not! Can’t say I get real depressed over it - except when I’m coming back from Eastern Washington from a job. Driving in the high desert with the snowy mountains in the distance, clear blue sky and can see for miles. Start climbing the pass and see that ceiling of gray beyond to the west. Like crawling back under an old wool army blanket that is soaking wet.

Hang in there Scythian!

You are not alone. Lots of people struggle with winter depression, including me. Today is my birthday, I feel old (I’m 48) and it’s freezing outside. I’ve already been on my daily walk and am fixing to get dressed in my brightest, sunniest (but warmest) clothes. I have lots of little tricks up my sleeve to ward off winter depression. I’ve even had strangers make uplifting comments to me about my sunny yellow shirts and bright blue sweaters. If I can put a smile on someone else’s face during the long winter months, even better.
