Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.
The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."
This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

but I'm not out there trashing the RNC for a problem they didn't create and for at least holding back money until the liberal Scozzafava agreed to support the conservative posistions on the major issues of the day. Yes, those are the kind of candidates we need the RNC to support more, the kind you have to bribe to support major conservative positions. The RNC will never, ever, get once cent from me.
As I pointed out, I'm supporting Hoffman and I don't agree with the currect RNC strategy on this.
Two questions for you?
Do you think that Newt and the RNC didn't "bribe" (that's your word) similar Scuzzy-types, back in 1995 when he built a majority?
As I'm somebody who has always given money to individual candidates instead of the RNC and since you are late to that strategy I must ask you, what took you so long?

First he opposes, then he squirms, then he supports, then he denies. Uh, no. His spokesman got it wrong.
End of story.

I wasn’t being critical of you; I was being critical of the RNC. Sorry if you took it that way.
The individual candidates/no-RNC contribution strategy has always been my way. Always. Why do you say I’m late coming to that?

You might as well claim that by signing a letter "very truly yours" you have pledged yourself to marry the recipient.;^)

This Wiley woman can take that pledge, if it even exists, and use it as toilet tissue. People like her selected (not elected) Scuzzy. Now at the last minute, seeing that they are losing and looking like a bunch of libtards, they are pulling out pledges and such from their rear ends.
I wonder how many R's are being payed to propagate BS on online forums to hurt the campaign of a conservative?

Disclaimer. I have not read all of the posts. I do not see how Hoffman can lie his way to anywhere with all of the scrutiny he is getting from his voters and other interested Republican party members, as well as his opponents who are heavily financed by the DNC. I am a Republican who relies on the party leadership to vet our candidates and accept only those who support the Republican party principles. If leadership goofs or becomes so elastic that it cannot determine where to draw the line between liberal and conservative, socialist or capitalist, when choosing a candidate, then a pledge to support their choice is null and void as far as I am concerned. This not only applies to the Hoffman pledge, if such exists, but to intentions and agreements by me to support the GOP. This Hoffman race is important in testing the will of the Republican party to take back our government or continue the game of politics. It is obvious to most Republicans that Scozzafava is another Arlen Spector, Snowe or Collins, who will flip in a NY minute, pun intended, to support RAT agendas. Might as well take a stand now and win or lose with Hoffman, however this situation came about.

“Despite having signed a pledge to support the eventual nominee to emerge from the process, Hoffman considered the possibility of asking for the Conservative Party’s endorsement to run against Scozzafavva, making it a three way race. When Paul Maroun declined Mike Long’s offer to run on the Conservative line, Hoffman approached Long and asked for the nod.”
http://blog.thememphisteaparty.com/
Paul Maroun, who was the real conservative candidate, kept his word. Doug Hoffman, unencumbered by actual principles, then crawled over to the CP hoping for a shot.

OK, so the Conservative part of NY had a change of heart after it was revealed she was a liberal. I don't see what's the big deal. Are you going to insinuate they're lying to smear Scuzzy too because they can't honor the pledge?

“Doug Hoffman looked me in the eyes, raised his right hand and pledged to support the Republican nominee in this district. He then turned around and declared his candidacy for this seat, rendering his oath utterly meaningless. Doug Hoffman lacks the basic integrity we need in our Congressional Representative.” — Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman Don Coon
