Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.
The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."
This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

I don’t know how small a community it is up there. Geographically, it is a large area. I have no knowledge of where they are from and how well they know/knew each other. All I know is that Hoffman is a conservatives’ dream come true. I have no problem rallying around him and cheering him on.
Aren’t your fingers getting tired after 3 + hours of typing on this thread?
We agree 50% -— the moron part.
Who cares and why are you supporting someone who makes Snowe and Collins look like conservatives? I donated to Hoffman and because of you, I’m going to do it again.
The release of a silly email from Hoffman by Scozzafava is childish. It means nothing. She needs to stand on her positions and win or lose on the merits of them. I think she is losing it big time.
Wow, good get. That’s hugely important.
I agree. Disruptors and distractors are trolls.
First of all, it is only a slight modification of a famous quote, and second of all, if you watched him on Beck, you would conclude, he barely says anything at all, and when he does, it is not well said.
I wish it were, six months a year at least.
Nothing like trashing the whole party because some are out of step, but then, that’s what you do.
Puzzling, read this post. Mojave must have had a change of heart or there are 2 posters using that name.

I have watched in amazement as this agitator has managed to generate over 500 posts over a clumsily contrived sophistry. Some here seem to think he’s simply naive, but to me his aggressively determined focus on his single meme while avoiding the larger context denotes either a calculating operative, or an ego with a monomaniacal, narcissistic craving for attention. While I readily acknowledge those are not mutually exclusive possibilities.../g, my money’s on the former. He’s most likely simply a GOP party flack who’s come up with another
desperate tactic to spread FUD... /g
Now, if we want to focus the discussion on character flaws and lack of integrity, the candidate whose husband filed a false police report on a reporter for simply and politely asking uncomfortable questions gives me much more cause for concern...
Silvery tongued politicians are what we have now.
I’d vote for stated principles over an orator any day.
You on the other hand are under some mythical illusion that Hoffman is a spoiler and will upset the advancement of Conservatism. You haven't however persuaded Conservatives to give up the fight.
Keeping track of who you’re playing on the internet from day-to-day is more difficult that you think.
Exactly. It is not being "purist". There has to be a line somewhere. Maybe analogous to Potter Stewart's line about pornography, "I know it when I see it." Dede clearly crosses this line. The states Conservative Party, which gave Ms. Scozzafavas voting record a rating of 15 out of a possible 100.
Indeed, the thread is all about him.
Yet another reference to the pledge, and no actual pledge.
You’re blowing smoke.
