Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.
The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."
This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

Reagan was pro-choice before he was pro-life.
The future of the movement does NOT hinge on this.
Win or lose... This is the first shot in the battle against the socialists in the GOP.
Old Party Uber Alles, eh?
Resign. And then throw your support to Hoffman.
But a leftist would falsely accuse him of lying. Just saying.
I wouldn't go that far. Geo. Washington lost just about all his battles until the end when he won decisively.
The Tea Party Patriots may do the same although winning this particular election so early on would be a *great* stimulus to the movement.
Old Political Expediency Uber Alles, eh?
BTW, I gave you one already. Reagan had a ‘change of heart’ and became a republican. Is he a liar?
Horse Hoffman.
I am not going to attack you here and I understand what you are trying to say but I have a couple of points.
1. It doesn’t matter in my mind if this man in the end ends up not being what he says he is, a true conservative. Look at the other 2 choices. This vote means a whole lot more than which particular candidate fills the seat. This vote is a pre-curser to what the Republican party can expect in the future if they don’t get on board with the views of their constituents.
2. Like I said I understand your point but I don’t get it. If you were a conservative yourself you would be sick of the status quo in the Repub party as well. So the man came back on his pledge, so what. I have done this before as well. Circumstances change and minds get changes. It is in our nature to be able to change our minds and I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be held to every single pledge I have made my entire life. By runing in this race Hoffman, whether he knew it or not (does not mattter), managed to grab ahold of the ground swell of revolt in our party and gave us all something to fight for.
At this moment in time the Republican Party and the Democrat Party look pretty much like one party and it’s high time we get back to the principals we all stand for. This is democracy at work my friend.
You just outed yourself as a leftist and don't even know it. Game. Set. Match.
I haven’t supported anyone in the race. It’s kind of funny that so many of Hoffman’s supporters share his predilection.
By bashing Hoffman continuously and acting like you can assume his intentions, you are passively supporting the other candidates, one of which is a dem and the other a very liberal repub. You are constantly misrepresenting what Hoffman said by providing bits and pieces of various conversations and falsely claiming that he lied.
Yes, he sent her a typical concession email that did NOT state he would support her. Yes, he may have said that he would support the RNC candidate until he realized that the RNC picked a lib. And yes, he may have reluctantly agreed to support Dede after he was aware of her liberal record because he didn’t think he had an alternative since third parties rarely succeed.
However, once he realized that he still could win the race, despite being overlooked by the RNC for the nomination, he decided to run. Once Hoffman realized that the people in the republican party, not the RNC, rejected Dede because of her liberalness, Hoffman realized that he was the conservative alternative for the people. That is why he is currently ahead in the polls. The RNC may like libs, but the people are tired of them and Hoffman responded appropriately. I commend him for listening to the people.
And the phony Republican intends to do whatever it takes to get her fat rear end in there to join her soul mate Democrats.
If that's the point you wanted to make it's not any harder to link to it than the one you did.
Is that the only source you have for Hoffman "signing a pledge?" It's almost 10 days old.
Is there any other source showing how he cut his finger and signed his name in blood pledging eternal loyalty over the bones of saints that he'd support Dede?
There's the rub, isn't it? Hoffman has never held office and has no track record for anyone to go by. All we have is his word that he'll be what he says he is. And it's broken.
Do you or do you not support the DIABLO Dede Scozzafava for the seat? If you do, please tell us conservatives how she is a better candidate than Hoffman.
I’m with post 9, put up or shut up!
There is nothing at this link that shows Hoffman signed anything. Where is his signature?
Now I do not live in NY so it is not like I can vote. But I guess based upon what you have said on this thread you will be voting for Scozzafavva?
