Good catch.....I found this which stated the 1963 Independence Constution only lasted a few months before being dismantled.
...”But Kenya’s Independence Constitution lasted only a few months in its original form: Kenya’s ruling elite, who has taken over from the departing colonial authorities, quickly dismantled the Independence Constitution and declared Kenya a Republic”
I know officially it was Dec 12 1964 but did they use Republic of Kenya in the interim?
A similar document from the same time period of some unknown Joe Blow would clear up the “Republic” thing. It may be as easy as a phone call to authorities in Kenya.
I believe that they wanted to cut loose from the colonial constitution that was bequeathed to them in 1963, KNEW they were after a Republic, and could easily have started using the term in the meantime. We need a Kenyan with experince in the promulgation of public records in the time period in question to resolve the issue. It's a question, for sure, but in the end it may be of no importance. The key issue is what's on page 5733 of Book 44B. Can someone please check?
Still catching up so forgive me if this has been addressed. There’s newspaperarchive.com and a slew of other resources online. If Kenya referred to itself as Republic of Kenya, prior to 12/12/64, it should be obvious by a perusal of contemporary newspapers.
Other than that, this colb as viewed at post 52 here, looks to be verifiable seven ways from sundown. Numbers, names. Should be a heck of a lot simpler to assess than the Rathergate docs. Plus if the original numbered book is missing, or a page thereof, that would be good enough for your average juror. In short, 0bama’s kettle just heated up a lot.
Where did you find that? It seems very important.
