Correct, as would be totally appropriate if the Dunhams were claiming Barry as their dependent on their joint return because Barry was living with them and they were providing more than 10% of his room and board, thus qualifying as a dependent is defined in the IRS regulations.
This has NOTHING to due with Ann losing CUSTODY or the Dunhams or someone else gaining custody (as some have erroneously claimed (absent a court order of which there is no evidence). It is simply a matter of who is claiming Barry as a dependent in that year, which can only be done on one return, not two.
