I'm not normally given to posting at Free Republic because my politics generally lie elsewhere, but I think the latest "story" about Obama's birth certificate from CNN really shows that the end is near for the lies on this issue. According to reports:
TVNewser has learned CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein sent an email to a handful of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" staffers last night regarding the coverage of the so-called birthers and the validity of Pres. Obama's birth in the U.S.
In part, Klein writes, "It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef." Klein asked CNN researchers to dig into the question of why Obama couldn't produce the original birth certificate. The researchers contacted the Hawaii Health Dept. and confirmed that paper documents were discarded in 2001 when the department went paperless. That reportedly includes Pres. Obama's original birth certificate.

This is a really important statement, if true. Number one, it directly refutes the statements being made by everyone from Robert Gibbs to Chris Matthews that Obama has already released his birth certificate. It also directly contradicts a statement made by the State of Hawaii Director of Health in 2008:
"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

Finally, there's simply no way that the State of Hawaii discarded all of their original vital records without first scanning them onto tapes, discs, whatever. The actual image of the original birth certificate would still be there, available for public viewing, even if the actual paper document has been destroyed.
The answer is "Then he is not elgible to be President... and he lied and committed FRAUD to this whole country to get power".

This doesn’t sound Kosher to me.
For Obama it would be very convenient, but why would they scan the COLB and not the opriginal Birth Certificate. If it is scanned. lets see the scan.

All anyone really wants to see is the official Certificate of Live Birth that would be issued by the State of Hawaii in response to a request from someone they are willing to honor with a response.
The document in Question would look just like the two Hawaii Certificates of Live Birth I have for my two kids born in Honolulu in 1965 and 1968 respectively.
Examples have been posted on FR of this so-called long form. They have at least since the 1960 been scans of one kind or another. They certainly don’t rip out the original and give it to you, if that is what anyone might be thinking. So the paper can’t be tested. You have to trust the certification, but the details are on there.
Frankly, as I sit here typing this I find it literally impossible to believe that Barack Obama does not have a copy of this document in his possession.

love to see it go away, but it will not, until Obama

Many of us have posted examples of a REAL birth certificate
from Hawaii, cir. 1960s.
There is a tremendous amount of obfuscation from the
media, mostly in showing the silly certification, and
declaring it to be the real deal, when nothing could be further from the truth.
As I mentioned on another thread, there is no objective media in the USA now.
We are now having to get real news from news outlets in other countries.
This is a very sad time for America.

This clown is so dirty he’ll never be clean. His past is a shadow of his own making. His present is being spent as an arrogant pretender to the highest office in the land. I am hopeful that his future includes a stint in Federal prison.
He has a lot to hide, apparently. And, now he has the resources of the US Government to help him keep it all hidden.

The birth certificate issue is really only a secondary issue anyway. The undispute fact is that Obama is not a ‘natural born citizen’ being that his father was Kenyan and not an American citizen.

McCain was born to American citizens stationed on an American Naval base in the Panama Canal Zone. He has since served in the U.S. Navy, and, since 1983, has served in the U.S. Congress.
“Because he was born to American citizens, there is no doubt in my mind that Senator McCain is a natural born citizen,” said Leahy. “I expect that this will be a unanimous resolution of the Senate.”

At a Judiciary Committee hearing on April 3, Leahy asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, himself a former Federal judge, if he had doubts that McCain was eligible to serve as President.
“My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen,” Chertoff replied.
