Good-bye.
A few months ago, I posted some information on bank financial strength. The post was a complex table and it took me sometime to make the post. Not long after, I forget but perhaps 10 or 20 minutes, the post disappeared. Figuring I made a mistake, I posted it again. This time I was pretty sure I posted it correctly. It disappeared within a few minutes. To verify that this was what was happening, I posted a third time. It again disappeared immediately.
I never received any feedback from FreeRepublic on this matter.
It annoyed me, but since I have always trusted FR, and since I have so far as I know maintained a sterling reputation here as a well behaved citizen for the eight or ten years I've been here, I shook my head in confusion and forgot that incident.
Just tonight I posted a more controversial post involving 9/11. It disappeared within minutes (after I had verified that the post succeeded).
Again, no notice public or private, before or after the fact. Just poof.
Good-bye.
I will cancel future monthly FR donations and leave. I cannot support a political discussion and news site which makes seriously intended posts by long standing contributors of good standing just disappear without notice, public or private, before or after.
The SanityIsland.us site, with some Daily Dose images, will remain around likely for one year, then go away without further notice. I may be reached via email at pj@usa.net (yes, I have excellent spam filters.)
Sites have a right to do as they please, but also a responsibility to stand up for the actions they take, at least involving participants acting in good faith. FR apparently is failing to honor this responsibility.
I would ask that in the future removals of posts made in good faith by members in good standing at least be recognized in private messages to the poster after the fact, stating the approximate cause for removal. Even a 'boilerplate' explanation would be better than nothing.
I wish this fine community and the good people here well. This nation is in dire need of honest reporting and discussion.
So the Moderator did give a reason on that page (which will remain on the web forever).
The reason a thread is pulled is usually posted at the top of the thread when the the thread is reopened.
The decision of the moderator was agreed to by several others who looked at the content at the time.
Sorry that you are considering leaving. I'd say that you owe yourself the opportunity to communicate with the mods... it is easy you know - and learn why users and mods here have little tolerance for those that spin lies about what happened on 9/11.
NOTE - I personally did not review the post, but I have implicit trust in the people who did.
Good read. We don’t need to be the taliban on this site.
So by my counting, this post tonight is my first and only strike in 7000 turns at bat, not to mention other forms of substantial contribution to FR fund drives and the Daily Dose column. If that had gotten an immediate ZOT, then that's not good in my view at all.
Speak for yourself.
Please post it again.
Me too. Pure BS.
The guy is fighting extradition from Argentina for killing his wife. He is using his photo work for FEMA at the 9-11 site to say the government is out to get him.
The other problem may have been the article title stated “9/11 FEMA videographer at Ground Zero goes public”.
He did not just go public....he was spouting this exact nonsense 2 years ago according to this article:

1/7,000?
You’re batting nearly 1,000%.
You must be using a corked bat.
What about that earlier bank-info table you put up? Was it sourced? Linked? Explained?
If it were put up during a time when people were understandably nervous about bank runs, and there were no sourcing, then perhaps a mod got antsy about it, since in later discussion it would always be attributed to "Free Republic".
Get with the Mod about that earlier table and see if he can run down what happened to that, too, since it was obviously a real issue for you, both the subject matter (since you did some work on it) and the handling of it by the mods.
Stick around a bit, Cow, and let the Mods run down the story on your two pulled posts.
Good to see you again, hope you can stick around.
Read 24 lil hitler.
All the original poster sees is poof - gone - no clue. Even folks like me that have been seriously messing with computers for almost a half century first assume that they made some mistake, or that the computer had a glitch.
Well, we all have our opinions, and we all have our instincts about what is fact and what is fiction.
I’ve had a couple posts pulled, mainly due to being an unwelcome source. Not a source that is doing the copyright debate thing, but a source like Rense.
Now I admit I follow Rense. Not because I hold the guy up to be some shining example of widsom or something, because his sources are often shown to be without any credibility.
But it’s sort of a separate the wheat from the chaff thing. I don’t in any sense always AGREE with Rense, but you have to admit he presents alot of different viewpoints about a wide variety of subjects.
After all, everybody here probably feels/knows that the death of the MSM is unavoidable, at least in terms of them being able to force-feed Americans what knowledge/opinions we’re supposed to have at the water cooler tomorrow.
I like alternative news sites. They can inform you, they can entertain you!!
Chuckles aren’t all that easy to come by these days!
By the way, I was not one who hit abuse on the 9/11 thread. I was there after it was pulled.
I never liked that show. To each his own.
Here, please allow me to loan you my 3 day rule.
If I am not still upset about something in 3 days, it probably didn’t matter in my life. If I am still upset and there isn’t anything I can do about it, I can learn to live with it..... or move on.
I recommend that you give yourself a 3 day break.
Maybe, but sometimes that sort of thing is much harder than it appears.
Look, either your post should not have been deleted, or you should have been told why it was deleted. You're right, and FR isn't perfect, and tomorrow's another day. Hope you hang around.
I agree with all you say about being informed about the reasons why any of your threads are pulled.
Don't really know much about 9/11 truthers or why I should find out about them, guess I need to get out more, away from the FR website where I get most of my news. Can you like sum up your position on 9/11 in as short a summation as possible and why you feel it necessary to leave FR over it?
It was sourced and linked and explained. Still, there was presumably some reason not yet obvious to me that it didn't belong here.
But I wasted the better part of an additional half hour reposting that one after the first time it disappeared, figuring I must have made a mistake and not actually posted it the first time.
"We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism."
I can prophecy that your grandchildren in America will live under socialism.
Our firm conviction is that sooner or later Capitalism will give way to Socialism. Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you."
The United States will eventually fly the Communist red flag. The American people will hoist it themselves.
Nikita Krushchev, July 19, 1962
As you can see from the comments above, that post was not proper FR material.
