If you know anything about Alito, he would have been polite, humble and not left the SCOTUS building. That's his, and every other Justices’, castle - they don't excuse themselves because they feel childish or slighted by a previous political action. It's not like a POTUS and VP elect just pop by every day.

Alito has been quoted as saying that whenever he walks by the Capitol he walks on the side of the street furthest from the Senate office buildings. There is no love lost between him and the Senate, especially towards two who voted against him.
