Emmanuel, Obama and Daley fed Blago to Fitz. They sacrificed Blago.

Fitz is not going to do anything about Obama or Rham. They are even bigger crooks.

O'Bammie sure hemmed and hawed when asked to comment. Can't wait to see how they try to cover the trail to O'Corruptama. From my earlier days of watching TV, all you needed was a tree branch to wipe away any evidence of horse tracks.

With the MSM's help, this 'possee' may prove to be equally inept.

I don't mean to be imflammatory and this probably sounds naive or downright dumb, but from what I've read Blago was trying to get quid pro quo or favors in exchange for the favored appointee to the senate seat which could result in a more lucrative position for him, something for his wife, but not exactly doing it for an outright cash payment.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between what he was attempting to do with the senate seat and political favors that are exchanged for donations all the time, not they are exactly comparable.

There's a whole laundry list of pols who seem to exchange favors for contributions or contracts and got what they wanted. Obama seems up to his neck in it, too, can't remember the exact details about the house deal and his wife's job and subsequent grant to the hospital (?).

I don't know where the actual bribery or lawbreaking kicks in, seems like a fine line. I'm not saying that any of this comes across as ethical, but hasn't our side done it, too, trading favoors, quid pro quo, like it's business as usual in the world of politics?

Maybe the difference is that you don't actually cut a deal specifically for a political contribution in receiving a favor but it just happens without soliciting it.

I read a lot of the complaint, multiple issues there.

A source close to the Obama team says Rahm Emanuel didn’t tip off federal authorities about Blagojevich’s misdeeds. TalkingPointsMemo quotes the source as saying it’s the “result of some overzealous reporting.”

It sounds more like trying to cover someones butt.

Although Blagojevich was the first governor to back Obama, and will appoint his successor in the Senate, he’s now keeping a low profile. The governor’s spokesman, Guerrero, tells NEWSWEEK that it “hasn’t been decided yet” whether Blagojevich will even attend the Inauguration in January. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still state business to conduct. In the days before the election, the governor had to figure out what to do with Richard E. Beard, the $200,000-a-year executive director of the Lincoln Library and Museum. Beard had just been arrested shoplifting a DVD box set of the TV show “House” from a local Target. (He has pleaded not guilty; Target also identified him as having previously walked off with a box set of “Seinfeld” DVDs.) And as it turned out, he was convicted last year of stealing neckties from Macy’s. Blagojevich fired him–an executive decision to restore integrity in the land of Lincoln.

Blagejevich is connected to Obama beyond this incident. Ryan Lizza reported in the New Yorker that Obama received “his first high-level experience in a statewide campaign” while advising Blagojevich during his campaign for governor. Additionally Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s current Chief-of-Staff also was a top strategist for that campaign. From the report:

He and Obama “participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor,” Emanuel said. “We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two.” A spokesman for Blagojevich confirmed Emanuel’s account, although David Wilhelm, who now works for Obama, said that Emanuel had overstated Obama’s role. “There was an advisory council that was inclusive of Rahm and Barack but not limited to them,” Wilhelm said, and he disputed the notion that Obama was “an architect or one of the principal strategists.”

Of course Obama’s other good friend and partner indicted developer & Obama advisor/fundraiser Tony Rezko was also involved with Blagojevich. Rezko used his influence with the Governor to “profit from companies seeking business with the state.” Rezko, a top fundraiser and advisor for the Governor attempted to corrupt two boards and create a pay-for-play system that has been tied to the Blagojevich administration.

Immanuel & osama are both senators from IL. Both are up to their posteriors in this muck. Just watch the spin they give mainstream media to throw off their complicity, and the media will just drool goose step in order.

You can bet that Rahm Emanuel is neck deep in this mess. He certainly was during the Clinton years so I doubt that he has changed much since then.

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/il05_emanuel/081704_08.jpg

After working in investment banking, in 2002 Emanuel pursued the U.S. House seat in the 5th District of Illinois previously held by Rod Blagojevich, who chose not to run for re-election, but instead successfully ran for Governor of Illinois.

In a city where Democrats rule, the party stamp of approval usually assures a candidate’s victory. Emanuel was the Democrats’ endorsed candidate when he ran for his seat as representative of the 5th district on Chicago’s far northwest side. So was the person Emanuel replaced, now-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

******

August 17th, 2004

Congressman Emanuel and Governor Blagojevich announce plan to make Illinois first state in the nation to provide consumers with access to prescription drugs from Canada, Ireland and the UK

State will contract with and inspect foreign pharmacies to launch online and toll-free ordering system; Illinois citizens stand to save 25-50% on cost of Rx drugs

In December, Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-Chicago) joined Governor Blagojevich in asking the federal government for a special waiver to launch a pilot program to import prescription drugs from Canada. After weeks of waiting for a response, the Governor helped organize a class action lawsuit to give senior citizens across the nation, the same opportunities that senior citizens in states that border Canada have to purchase cheaper prescription drugs.

Rahm Emanuel: Barack and Michelle are friends, he says. “I’ve known him a long time. We used to sit around helping our governor get elected, help those strategy meetings, stuff like that.”

From the complaint pg. 71:

114. Later on November 13, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with Advisor A. ROD BLAGOJEVICH asked Advisor A to call Individual A and have Individual A pitch the idea of the 501(c)(4) to “[President-elect Advisor].” Advisor A said that, “while it’s not said this is a play to put in play other things.” ROD BLAGOJEVICH responded, “correct.” Advisor A asked if this is “because we think there’s still some life in [Senate Candidate 1] potentially?” ROD BLAGOJEVICH said, “not so much her, but possibly her. But others.”

In other words, Blago had reason to believe that Obama still had someone in mind and might be approachable on the "idea of the 501(c)(4)".

Why didn't Obama's people, i.e. Rahm or somebody just call Blago and say they are not willing to "purchase" the daggone Senate seat and that he should just can any ideas he has about that? You'd think a new President-elect would want to ensure that no Governor in the entire country could think they might "sell" favors to the President, much less, the Governor of the President's HOME STATE.

These people are making Arkansas look like a Boy Scout camp compared to the crap that comes out of Illinois. They're giving corrupt politicians a bad name.

The latest buzz about the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is that President-elect Barrack Obama's appointed Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, "turned" him in.

It's easy to do the right thing when you have been forewarned that someone under close Federal scrutiny will solicit a bribe from you.

Remember, someone leaked word of the wiretaps possibly as early as a few days before the court order for the wiretaps was issued back on Oct 21.

Those two Chicago scumbags Obama and Emanuel are corrupt to the core.

And I wonder about Fitz, too. Blowing the investigation sky high with the arrest of the governor today in the midst of ongoing Democrat corruption stinks to high heaven. Somebody tipped somebody off, that’s for sure. If Fitz fails to expose both the tipper and the tippee, then it is only because he is one or the other.

Mark Levin calls Emanuel “Al Capone” for a reason. Any idea that he assisted Justice is ludicrous unless he has the idea of putting someone more beneficial to him in Blago’s place.

Jim Lindgren has two good posts up at Volokh.

The first is on the timeline of who knew what and when. Lindgren's conclusion:

From the evening of Nov. 10 until yesterday, Blagojevich, Obama, and his transition team acted in ways that are consistent with a knowledge of Blagojevich’s bribery attempt and a rejection of that attempt. What doesn't fit easily with the timeline is Obama's statement yesterday.

The second is about the "unnamed players" in the case. Lindgren's (educated) guesses on the "candidates" are as  follows:

(1) Jarrett; (2) Lisa Madigan, State Atty. General; (3) possibly US Rep. Jan Schakowsky; (4) Dean Martinez, Bob Greenlee, or Louanner Peters (all Deputy Governors); (5) Emil Jones; (6) possibly J.B. Pritzker or Edwin Eisendrath

Obama seen untouched by Illinois governor charges(Teflon Barf Alert)
reuters ^ | Dec 10, 2008 | Deborah Charles

President-elect Barack Obama’s decision to keep a distance from his state’s governor, who was arrested on corruption charges on Tuesday, should enable him to escape becoming tainted by the scandal, analysts said.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich stands accused of trying to sell the president-elect’s vacant U.S. Senate seat for financial and other personal benefits for himself and his wife, among other charges.

“Obama is not related to the corruption pattern in Chicago,” said political scientist Dick Simpson of the University of Illinois in Chicago. “He has not been pressing for any person to replace him in his Senate seat.”

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, announcing the charges, also said Obama was in no way implicated.

Obama, who takes office on January 20, left the Senate soon after winning the November 4 presidential election. As governor, Blagojevich, a Democrat, has sole authority to announce a replacement to serve the remaining two years of Obama’s term.

Obama told reporters he was “saddened and sobered.”

“I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening. As I said, it is a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment,” he said.

I think this is an intentional misdirection in order to protect Obama from the obvious.

All Chicago machine politics is interconnected.

Rezko’s the one to watch. He is why Blago is indicted and was the financier of both Blago and Obummer. They are both corrupt Chicago politicians.
