I am currently thinking about getting a Kimber .45 Custom II, but am probably going to put it on hold as I would like a gun for CCW.
I tried my dad's Ruger LCP and it was very nice and light, but I would like greater stopping power with a CCW. So I was thinking about taking the plunge and getting a Kimber Ultra Carry .45. Does anyone here have one? And if so, how accuarate are they? A 3 inch barrel is about the same as the Ruger LCP I think, and I am concerned about its accuracy.
Many TIA

Thanks for the link. The tests all seem to be .45 ACP.
Would the relative performance between brands be comparable in other calibers?
I have a 9mm.
http://www.internetarmory.com/handgunammo.htm sorry to take so long to respond... This talks about the right ammo for each calibre and also the mindset necessary to “come out on top”.
C A L i B E R...got the dyslexic finger syndrome tonight..
I have a comp-tac paddle holster for my G30. It’s very comfortable, though I would like to get an IWB holster for it eventually.
Size has never been a concern for me. I’ve always carried large guns as I want protection over comfort. My G30 is above and beyond all else, an excellent shooter! I am on the bullseye with better than 90% of my shots. All shots are in the kill zone. Practice shots range from 7 yards to 18 yards and are taken with 1. both hands, 2. strong hand only, 3. weak hand only. This gun is a true gem!
Yeah, muggers are right up to you withing that distance maybe even closer ... you reach for your wallet but you have your gun in that pocket ... best thing to do is have what I call is a “throw down wallet” a wallet with fake credit cards, some religious tracts and phony money ... drop it and run ....
For uninvited house guests I have a Mossberg 500 12 Gauge with the riot barrel on.
It'll make a mess, but sheetrock and paint are cheap.
Thanks for the link. I bookmarked it for now. I’ll check it out tomorrow.
Have a good night.
The RBCD ammo is very expensive at $2 per round.
It's not for practice.
The RBCD ammo can penetrate a vehicle door, where as, a Hydroshock or standard .45ammo cannot.
So, any perp hiding behind a Pinto door with a .357 "Owns You" if you carry a .45ACP without RBCD.
Although, you could shoot their foot off and wait for the perp to bleed out.
I have a P345 in black. It’s a good accurate auto. What do you use for a CCW holster?
I find 9MM Winchester ball ammo works with out a hiccup. The flat nosed stuff (wad cutters & hollow points) tends to jam because of a near vertical feed ramp.
Actually, your post lends some thoughts to think about as I was thinking similar things.
Wheel guns are an anachronism. I would never CCW with one as my primary/only pistol.
You get what you pay for. I would never trust my life to something made so cheaply. Buy it as a practice gun, but for home defense, invest in something reliable with the thought that your life depends on it...because one day it just might.
I carry M1911A1, Tarus “detective” 2” bbl hammerless 357 mag, colt SAA .45 long colt, and NAA .22LR mini. I love ‘em all.
10 might be a little young for an AK-47. A young fellow at a range I shot at in the early 1990s was killed when the AK he was shooting (a borrowed gun) went full auto. He panicked and dropped the gun and it continued firing, at least one bullet struck and killed him. It was a freak accident for sure, some part inside the gun broke.
I’m not saying he couldn’t handle an AK-47 at 10, but it would depend on size and maturity.
throw down wallet a wallet with fake credit cards, some religious tracts and phony money ... drop it and run ....”
Good advice. Years ago I had to take a personal security course before traveling overseas, and they gave the same advice. I carried a fake wallet in an accessible place with expired credit cards with the name and numbers cut out. I got pickpocketed in Italy by a bunch of street urchins and they got the fake one. I got the last laugh.
Do the same with your passport. I copied mine, just the front cover and inside page with your picture. Use some wide clear tape to make it into a booklet ... It’s legal to copy it - that plus the fake wallet ....
