I am currently thinking about getting a Kimber .45 Custom II, but am probably going to put it on hold as I would like a gun for CCW.
I tried my dad's Ruger LCP and it was very nice and light, but I would like greater stopping power with a CCW. So I was thinking about taking the plunge and getting a Kimber Ultra Carry .45. Does anyone here have one? And if so, how accuarate are they? A 3 inch barrel is about the same as the Ruger LCP I think, and I am concerned about its accuracy.
Many TIA

I think I may have to check out Kimbers this weekend. I would like to save money if possible, bu tthen again, is your life worth saving a few hundred bucks?
Thanks.
I’m 6’, 215. I don’t know the dimensions of a P95, but the P345 is 7 5/8 L x 5 1/2 H x 1 1/8 W (approximate). It’s among the smallest Ruger P-series chambered for .45 ACP.
What Ruger model is that? I have P85 - very reliable guns
I believe the barrel of your gun is .3 inches longer than the P95.
The P95 is a bit big for a carry. Good gun but big. The new Ruger RS9(?) is nice and smallish.
Barrel length is just a hair over 4”.
GREAT weapon!
Kahr Arms P40. Carried it when I lived in Seattle. Now in a May Issue (in a million years!) state, so only use it for target practice now. :(
I have both a Glock 23 (compact .40 S&W) and a Kimber Pro Carry Ten II (.45). Both are pretty light, but difficult to conceal in the warmer weather.
I am ‘better’ with the Kimber though I haven’t had it nearly as long as the Glock. I suspect that the Single-Action trigger is just more comfortable for me than the Glock’s DAO trigger. Then again, I always did well qualifying with the old 1911. It just ‘feels’ right.
I just added a set of Crimson Trace grips to it.
I post at THR. I'll have to take a look at the 642 club thread.
I carry a Kimber Ultraraptor II. I carry it in the waist band behind the right hip with a 511 Tactical shirt open over a regular shirt. It works fine for me.......... Also use 185 grain + p hollow points in the pipe for that little extra zip to make up for the 3 inch barrel. hydroshocks are ok also....
My first carry gun was a .44 special, Charter Arms Bulldog
My second was a Ruger P345 .45
Now I’m carrying a Glock 30 .45
I never leave home without it. It never stays on the nightstand while I am out of the house.
“Kimber Ultra Carry .45.”
We have several. Love them! In fact, my full size 1911, A Kimber TLE/RL II, feels heavy and awkward compared to the Ultra Carry. I use a Galco SkyOps holster when wearing shorts and jeans but use the Galco Miami Classic, a shoulder holster, for jackets when flying or just out shopping in the winter. The Ultra Carry shoots accurate and reliably. We both have them and can group small shots of 3” at 25 feet without any problems. They are extremely well balanced. I favor it over the full size.
“A LEO friend of mine said that the majority of gunfights happen around 9-12 feet some even closer”
That’s a good point. What most people fail to understand is that in most cases it is better to get off the x than to engage in a gunfight. If you are far enough away from the other shooter it might be best to get cover or run away. It’s situational of course, but if you are engaged in a gunfight at 40 feet you shouldn’t be in a gunfight.
“185 grain + p hollow points “
I like the 185gr Speer Gold Dots for the same reason. Excellent round that has that little extra velocity for shooting from the shorter barrel.
An excellent choice. It's roughly the same as a 1911 yet about half the weight. And it packs almost the same ballistic punch as the .45 cartridge.
Lately I've been using a little Sig 230 in .380. It lacks the punch of a full 9mm, but the recoil is so light I can put 3 rounds in the head of a silhouette target at 8 feet one handed.
In my State CC is completely illegal, so one has to 'improvise'.
L
As big as you can carry, as small as you can hide (Kimber Ultra Carry CDP).
The PF9 and two extra magazines gives you quite a bit of firepower in a VERY compact, easily concealed setup.
