"Before Elvis, there was nothing!" --- John Lennon
"Bad Taste" is subjective. One of the many things I love about Graceland (and I've been through the house many times), is the fact that it's like being in a time capsule. I have very fond memories of the 1970s and Graceland maintains the essence of that era.
The house is truly lovely. I love the decor and when you walk through the front door, you actually feel like you are in a home, and not some impersonal "mansion" that doesn't even evoke the feeling of anyone living there. There are rooms that are really funky (i.e. the legendary "Jungle Room" and the downstairs playrooms) and there are rooms that are quite elegant without being pretentious (i.e. the living room and dining room). Every room, including the kitchen, looks comfortable and inviting to spend time in.
Regarding mirrors - there are an abundance of them in Graceland, both on the sides of the walls and on the ceiling. Those were put in while Elvis was still alive back in the mid-1970s.
My take on that is that you have to be pretty good looking to have so many mirrors around! (I know, I know, some will say "narcissistic") but if I looked like Elvis, I wouldn't mind looking at myself all day. :)
Here's a photo taken just this last week of the TV room downstairs. And yes, there really were and are three television sets. The first is playing Clint Eastwood's "The Outlaw Josie Wales", the second is playing Johnny Carson, and the third is playing "Dr. Strangelove".
