Has this failure mode ever occurred on an aircraft other than TWA 800? Have the same conditions ever been present elsewhere?

It always struck me as unusual that Boeing raced out and admitted that TWA flight 800 was their fault even before all the wreckage had been fished out of the water, or the NTSB had finished their investigation. It is my experience that airframe manufacturers never like to admit fault no matter how damning the evidence, and certainly they would not usually admit fault with litigation still pending. It never made sense that they would race out and shout it from the rooftops that this explosion was caused by a manufacturing defect and nothing more. I guess I’m too cynical to believe they just wanted the truth to be known. I suspect something else happened and Boeing and our government conspired to cover it up.

Over two weeks, various flight conditions were tested

Referencing the OFFICIAL FBI report on TWA 800, Whitehouse Security Adviser Richard Clark officially stated the plane continued to climb another 1,500 ft AFTER the nose was blown off. I'd like to see that duplicated.

The first system was tested better than this on over 1200 planes for over 29 years without a similar incident - all before flight 800 and the subsequent coverup.

I see they haven’t admitted it was terrorism that brought the plane down and that Clinton did nothing to retaliate against America’s enemies. I guess that’s Clinton’s legacy, do nothing!
