If he hates it so much he can quit.

Well, actually, he can't, without really looking like a poor sport. I agree with Lucky9teen, I don't necessarily think Sanjaya is gay, but he's just a baby, and obviously his parents haven't encouraged him to grow up much.

I thought his initial audition was really fairly decent. It has surprised me that he has done so poorly (which he has, make no mistake!!!). But between singing so tentatively and appearing so effeminate, he's cooked his own goose.

You know, every time I hear him perform, I want to quote Mama Rose and yell at him, "SING OUT, LOUISE!" LOL!

Who's the musical guest next week?

What I found so far:

? on March 21st
Gwen Stefani on March 28th
? on April 4th
Jennifer Lopez on April 11th
ABBA on April 17th ~ {mentioned during auditions}
Inspirational music on April 24th

Somewhere in there, we'll see... TONY BENNETT, BON JOVI, BARRY GIBB, LULU, MARTINA McBRIDE and PETER NOONE

"Spoil sport" would be a step up from what he looks like now! His first audition was very good. Who the hell knows what happened since then, though.

I don't agree with the theory that his is miserable and wants to go home. Sanjaya's biggest fan is Sanjaya and then his mother.

Well, I'm predicting Sanjaya to be gone next week, because TPTB do not want him on the tour. Kinda like Kevin Covais (Chicken Little) last year. No matter how many votes he gets, he's gone.

Simon didn't even want Daughtry to go to the Hollywood Finals, let alone be the winner. Simon also tried to prevent Taylor Hicks from being advanced to Hollywood. He favored the the girl who did Over the Rainbow, can't remember her name.

During the season when he realized that Kat wasn't a consistently good singer, is when he changed. He pushed for Chris more and more as time went on. He was ticked when Chris was sent home!

I just read that Peter Noone's website is saying next week is British Invasion week.

Cool! There should be some good somgs next week then. Maybe some we haven't heard on idol before.

Thanks for the link.

"For the record, I don't consider someone being in the "margin of error" a good prediction when the margin of error is 9 of the 12 finalists."

I know. It's frustrating but those darn laws of statistical sampling can be a bit pesky.....;-)

No one thought Vasquez was a poor sport when he left. People wondered why he left was all. Most thought he just wanted his namein the news and to get started on a cd. Now we know! But, again, he wasn't considered to be a poor sport.

I agree. Think how much class people would think he had if he did step down, knowing that he has no business being there. At 17 it sure would seem that his voice should have changed by now. He kinds of reminds me of Paris Bennet, talking in some false hich pitched voice.

'60 MINS' VS. SIMON

March 15, 2007 -- MR. Nasty himself, Simon Cowell, is going to get a "60 Minutes" grilling.

Cowell will be profiled on this week's edition of the venerable newsmagazine by occasional contributor, CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper.

He is expected to discuss the heat he's taken from the music industry, his vast wealth - Cowell is among the richest in his native England - and the appeal of "American Idol."

Cowell has become famous for being overly cruel with his caustic critiques of the amateur singers who appear on "Idol."

He claims that he is just brutally honest.

Poor Brandon, I was voting for him and I'm sorry to see him go. What a shame they cut off his song at the end because they ran out of time. They should give him the chance to come back at the beginning of next week's show to sing his swan song.

Simon was pimping for Kellie Pickler early in the season. Chris emerged as a "favorite" and I think Simon realizes that the guy was "good" and also saw $$$ (What's it's really all about).

They were pushing Ace early on as the new "Lt. Dan" type but when Simon saw he wasn't that good he easily drifted to Daughtry.

He also never liked Taylor so he's not pushing him as much.

Notice who performed from the past 3 seasons:

Fantasia - WINNER of season 3
Carrie Underwood - WINNER of season 4
Kellie Pickler - 6th Runner up of season 5.

Not to forget they use Daughtry's tune "Home" as the "you're going home" song. Taylor is no where to be found.

On the plus side for the grey haired soul man, he may not be selling as many CD's as Daughtry, but he's selling out concert halls like crazy!

Taylor is a performer more than a recording artist.

My 2.5 cents....

Those who think he is "cruel" are the ones who think everyone is above average...

Any reviews of his shows? He was in Atlanta last week but I did not hear a single thing about it.

BTW, saw my first live show in quite a long while on Tuesday. I highly recommend catching The Tragically Hip if they come to your town. Great energy and superb songwriting/vocals from a legendary Canadian rock band. Going to see Josh Groban on Saturday. Live music kind of week for me...

Review: 'Idol' winner delivers soul, intensity in sold-out show

http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/music/article/0,1406,KNS_349_5393963,00.html

By BETSY PICKLE,
March 4, 2007

Taylor Hicks came to Rocky Top on Saturday night and made himself at home.

Performing for a sellout crowd of 1,631 at the Tennessee Theatre, Hicks was like a bluesy gyro, constantly in motion as he belted out most of the tracks from his major-label debut, "Taylor Hicks," along with a few novel mash-ups. His fans, ranging from 6 to well into the 60s, stayed on their feet along with him.

The 30-year-old Alabaman with the salt-and-pepper hair and husky voice proved that millions of dialing fingers hit the right numbers when they voted him winner of last year's "American Idol." Hicks, backed by a tight six-piece band and one singer, used his years of stage experience and the polish he got from "Idol" to craft a nearly flawless show.

Hicks, as did opening act the Greyhounds, commented on the beauty of the venue - how could he not? But it was the personal touch of segueing from a falsetto improv on "Wherever I Lay My Hat" into lyrics from "Rocky Top" that won the locals' hearts.

While "Taylor Hicks" boasts an uneven selection of songs that often fall short of the singer's abilities, onstage Hicks elevated even the most inane of them and turned the better cuts into fantastic showpieces.

He got off to a fast start with "Give Me Tonight," "Heaven Knows" and "The Maze," into which he injected strains from "Let's Get It On," before slowing down slightly for "Hell of a Day," from his self-released "Under the Radar." But his early high note came when he poured on the intensity for the Rob Thomas-penned "Dream Myself Awake."

Hicks spun, strutted, bounced and shook his way around the stage throughout his 65-minute set, going from "The Deal" and "Gonna Move" into the soulful classic "Wherever I Lay My Hat." He showed a sense of playfulness in his rendition of Rod Stewart's "Young Hearts," taking it halfway to rap, before returning to his past for "Heart and Soul."

He hit another high with "Just To Feel That Way." Hicks has a gift of being able to crawl inside a lyric and deconstruct it while making it grander, and he really showed off on this one.

Hicks left the stage briefly after energetic performances of "The Right Place" and "The Runaround" before returning for his encore, an unexpected classic from Cream, "Badge." It was a bold move, but Hicks and his band proved they were up to it. It was blues perfection.
