If the New York Times hates him that is good enough for me.I think many people should recognize that not all of us Conservative grew up in small town evangelical environments and not all of us had guns or care to have them. Most of us Urban Conservatives don't really care about these issues. In fact many of the Conservatives I know around me are actually pro-choice. We generally keep it quiet here, because as I say it is not a major issue. We would rather see the party win which is more important. But, now that we see us losing ground outside of small town America and the South we can be flexible the other way. But, we still remember that we have to live with our small town allies (whom we usually agree with) and cooperate accordingly to achieve our most important goals.

There's no question that Republican social liberals (also known as Rockefeller Republicans)love Rudy. Wacky social experiments like unrestricted abortion, the radical gay agenda, thought-control hate crimes, gun confiscation, and euthanasia appeal to their "progressive" natures.
And they are confident Rudy will deliver on all counts.
If he doesn't, Hillary will. A Hillary-Rudy final in 2008 is a win-win for them.
It's a lose-lose for the rest of us.

Thanks for that post! Very well said and something some folks miss when talking about Conservatism and who is what. Conservative does not equal religious right -- that group is ONLY a part of Conservatives but must admit very vocal part. They are not the base of Conservative Republicans because us members of the base do not threaten to stay home and not vote if we don't like the Republican nominee -- we hold our noses and vote for him in the general election for President.
