Personally, I prefer Tancredo although I admire "America's Mayor," and this article sheds some light on Rudy's little known conservative and courageous accomplishments.
You might as well and if you can find a bunch of great pictures, post them too. :-)
I just don't see any social conservative running for President that can win in 2008. Electability has to come in to play when choosing the GOP nominee. We know how the Clinton's fought terrorism when Bill was President. We can't afford that again. Not now. The stakes are too high. Gays won't kill us but the terrorist will!!!
I think that a great many FReepers, like you, have lost your course because you've jettisoned your allegedly conservative ideals to support the most liberal major Republican presidential candidate in the history of the United States. I believe, as I stated in that post and have no problem stating here, or anywhere else, that the Republican Party has similarly lost its way as some poll numbers show a great many Republicans are supporting Giuliani whose views are in opposition to the majority of the Republican Party Platform.
I don't remember how you came down on honest debate about Rudy ... and about whether Rudy supporters should be banned so I'll not weigh in on this.
Here is a very good "quick" list of other candidates and their principal weaknesses, with many thanks to PhiKapMom:
Romney -- waffles on issues; Mormon factor of the Church appeasing illegals
Hunter -- cannot raise the money necessary, 30 years in the House and would have made a good candidate in 2000
Tancredo -- not a chance -- too polarizing
Tommy Thompson -- no charm or ability to get votes
Sen Brownback -- heard him speak, put you to sleep don't agree with him on Iraq -- too wishy washy
Cong Paul -- doesn't stand a prayer of winning -- doesn't support a lot of Republican issues
Newt -- too polarizing to win as President could be okay as VP if he decided to take that but he quit as Speaker
J.C. Watts -- too much baggage not running
Gov Keating -- pulled out of the race -- would make a very good Attorney General
George Allen -- lost the Senate race and ran a louzy campaign
Cong Pence -- lost the election for Minority Leader
Gov Sanford -- lost a lot of ground not getting in the race so looks like he won't run
Jeb Bush -- not another Bush running for the WH
Bill Frist -- too wishy washy and was in charge when we lost the Senate
On the post from which I "borrowed" this list, PKM stated that she wished there were a whole pack of great conservative candidates from which we could cherry-pick the very best. So do I, but we got what we got!
Projection!
What is that suppose to mean?
Careful.
To be honest you did lie about me here the other night.
I emailed the mods publicly and they backed me up over you.
Just found Rudy's speech in audio and video from the 2004 GOP Convention at the following link:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/mmedia/politics/083004-15v.htm
Are you under the impression that typing stupid stuff like that will make people forget you're a documented liar?
I'm not sure myself.
Of course!
In that post, it clearly mean that some - in both the Republican Party and on FR - were operating without conservative principles - their rudder. It is clearly explained in the post.
Would you vote for him in the General Election? Sit it out? Or third party?
Howlin=1, FA=zip
It looks like the picture on the right should be flipped, doesn't it?
I mean SWAGGER!
