Exactly! These folks don't have a clue on Hunter. You don't come from behind in today's environment and win. The political savvy on this thread is missing on how things work in the real world. When Hunter made those comments, he just told the world that he doesn't understand what a President can do.
In 2000, Bush and McCain started off in front -- I started supporting Bush in Jan 1999 and in the end it was the same two man race as all the others dropped out. On here supporters were saying why their man was going to win and it translated into almost no votes.
Candidates are picked early in today's enviroment because of the cost to run a 50-state campaign. Voters will flock to the candidate they believe can win because the average voter prefers to be on the winning side and dark horses will get their 1-2% in the primary and then start dropping out. Pres Bush proved you don't have to win in NH to win the nomination. Too many states today are also frontloaded on primaries. Oklahoma and a lot of other states come right after NH. Coming out of February 2008, we should know who is most likely going to win -- political reality.
Kerry virtually had the nomination sewed up after he won six of seven states I think it was with only Oklahoma putting him in #3 position. He only gained momentum after that.
I look at politics from a realistic point of view for the outcome. When it comes to President, I look for the Republican candidate that is going to whip the Democrats. That's my #1 priority followed by my #1 issues.
