The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

SSHHH! They still have their white robes at the cleaners. It's not safe to wear them in public anymore or admit they are the owners!

Playing the race card is normally considered a bankrupt argument.

Personal choices and/or wiring about sexual attraction, and with whom to share one's life, I don't think is in the same "class" as substance "abuse." JMO, but I think it is a widely shared one these days - - very widely shared.

Why? Some people are pre-disposed towards addiction.

People who eat trans fats are only making themselves sick.

But gays, despite two decades of AIDS education, still spread the disease because they cannot control themselves to be either monogamous or in control of their impulses. Google gay meth abuse and get back to us as to the public health problems too many gays cause.

By the way, God created much more efficacious blood tests for a reason. Having said that, if the tests are not fully efficacious, and an anti gay blood rule serves as a health protecting filter, however crude, than of course, that is appropriate. Probably more efficacious is not paying folks for their blood. That brings in the dregs, or whatever sexual preference.

“As a Republican who supports a woman’s right to choose, it is particularly an honor to be here,” Giuliani said. “The government shouldn’t dictate that choice by making it a crime.”

Rudy Guiliani addressing the National Abortion Rights Action League 2001 "Champions of Choice" Luncheon.

“I have a daughter now,” Giuliani told TV’s Phil Donahue in 1989. “I would give my personal advice, my religious and moral views. I would help her with taking care of the baby. But if the ultimate choice of the woman - my daughter or any other woman - would be that in this particular circumstance, to have an abortion, I’d support that. I’d give my daughter the money for it.”

Tell me again about how Rudy wants to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Good God, man, we've known about AIDS for what, twenty years? It is the most avoidable plague in human history. Even gays can avoid it if they are monogamous.

But too many think they can do the bathhouse lifestyle - and then demand that the taxpayer cover their medical expenses for their chasing the bug.

"Tell me again about how Rudy wants to overturn Roe v. Wade."

He doesn't even want partial birth abortion banned - a method that has zero, zilch, nada medical necessity EVER.

Well I guess that's one problem that takes care of itself then, it doesn't need Rudy's attention.

because they cannot control themselves to be either monogamous or in control of their impulses

That tends to be a rather widespead human character flaw. But yes, gays as a statistical matter, do have a higher incidence of self destructive habits. The issue is how that translates into public policy, that is fair, just, and reasonable, and respects core human "rights."
