The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

No, it isn't accurate and it's rather silly of you and others to post it as though it was something someone else made.

No one has EVER said that it was something someone else made. You're hallucinating.

So Spiff, how do you feel you are doing so far in saving the country and preventing abortion nation-wide?

Yep, and the President has very little influence over social issues and Rudy is our best chance of beating Hillary who will appoint activist judges whereas Rudy won't.

I've asked for sources before regarding this matter too and unsurprisingly, they are never given.

What's sort of creepy is that the so-called perfect conservatives on Free Republic must be farther to the right than ubber social conservative Pat Robertson.

Pat Robertson thinks Rudy would make a good president.

You know, Spiff, I think the main reason you continue to show up on these Rudy threads is that you just like arguing with people -- you like full-contact gasbagging. Until you actually say something that's worth responding to, or which gives any evidence that you intend to be a constructive part of the effort in '08 to keep Hillary out of the White House, the prudent course will be to let you vent and just ignore your repetitious posts.

I sense Spiff and EV those type of guys who would drive around the country in a van and shake a bottle with a fetus in it at Giuliani at every opportunity.

Actgually, the President has GREAT influence over social issues by appointing social conservatives to the judiciary. That is what scares many people about Rudy Giuliani, he has no track record with judges other than as a social liberal prosecutor. Many of us fought for over 40 years to get the Supreme Court away from social liberals. I don't think they will just turn over the Presidency to someone "who can win" by compromising ideals or moral and religious convictions.

I guess, by your vacuous response, you're ceding the point. Good.

One of them has already said he was killing babies :-)

My question is - if abortion is such a prominent issue - so prominent - that a pro-choice person is automatically unacceptable - then why do these zealots refuse to discuss how they are doing in the war against abortion?

There is a great big disconnect there - that makes me wonder if abortion is not really an issue at all.
