I think they stole it from the Ramones.
Hubby walked in the room and said that guy looked like he could be Taylor's cousin 'Cooter' Hicks from Knoxville TN. LOL
The MSNBC pundits are drooling all over themselves today as they lambaste FOX and American Idol. The theme of their bloviating--"It's soooooo cruel!"
This started out with Brian Williams on the Imus Show, on his high horse, as uaual, pontifiating about how CRUUUUUUU-EL the show is, and FOX should be ashamed for publicly humiliating these contestants, etc.
Brian, get a clue. That's the whole point. No one holds a gun to the head of these people and says: "You must make a fool of yourself on national TV and be vilified by Simon Cowell."
Dear Lord, if Brian Williams ever read this thread, someone would have to bring in the smelling salts. Poor Auntie Brian!
Then Tucker Carlson, with orders from on high (Brian Williams) carried on in the same vein this evening. "American Idol is very cruel," said Tucker (as if this were his own opinion and not a talking point from his boss--Brian Williams.) Tucker then pondered about whether the worst contestants actually volunteered for the humiliation, as some latter-day masochists. Oh, my, Auntie Tucker! Please pass Brian's smelling salts.
At least we know they are watching...those supercilious MSNBC punditi.
I suspected such, it looks gorgeous! The writer aspect is very interesting, I had no clue writing was such a big interest there.
Also wasn't that Global summit held there a few year ago with all the riots and turmoil? It's kind of a double edge sword for that city trying to stay sane with so many anarchist/liberals residing there.
Meh... two nights of auditions and I'm already to just hit "delete" on the TiVo for the rest of the audition shows. They're showing so much of the dreck that we don't get a chance to see many of the good auditions. Those we have seen don't scream out "star quality" to me anyway.
Wake me when we get to Hollywood.
That's great to hear!!! I heard some on report she made the comment to Robert Plant one time about how she would love to sing harmony while he sang the lead, and he said right back to her he'd be the one that would have to be singing the harmony. I'll bet she melted on that one!
I just watched my tape of last night's auditions..... OH MY! I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Bless their hearts, there were very few that were right in the head.... I really LOL'ed at the hairdresser Taylor Hicks wannabe. Man, I hope there will be some better singers soon. Only 17 out of MN and I think 14-15 out of Seattle, if that many.
Well I am ashamed to admit I just posted a snide remark about Seattle just from watching the 2 hr. show, you were left wondering about the people there. Honestly, I'm kinda nervous about the Birmingham auditions now. I hope they don't just show the weirdos, but some talent too!! :)
You forgot the "I have a cold" excuse. I sing so badly today because I have a cold..... That one drives me nuts as well.
What is up with Seattle?
Not only could they not sing, but they were just freaking goofy! and were proud they were on top of that!
The Ewok or Creature from the forest couldn't have been more creepier
Yeegads AI get back to the south!
HAHA! You are mean. I'm going to tattle on you to Brian Williams of MSNBC.
It really is funny that they're so compassionate after 5 complete seasons. I don't see much difference myself except maybe Paula. And that's an altogether different story by itself.
Of course they wouldn't be complaining at all if it were an NBC show. They're probably the same bunch crying about 24. The media seems to be wastin' away in PCwhineyville. People who try out for Idol know what to expect. A few of them have deserved it.
The poor little guy (jungle animal) has a face only his mother could love!
Anybody see Taylor Hicks and Fantasia on Larry King this evening? They both did a credible job, although IMHO Fantasia's voice continues to grate on my nerves, she sounds so whiny and I think her stage presence is zilch. However, she has an effective, sympathy-producing gimmick - she's a single Mom and continually pushes her hard-luck story for the sympathy factor. Hey, whatever works.
Loved Kevkrom's list! But actually, the "I have a cold" excuse is the only one I have sympathy for. Back when I was doing a lot of singing, I used to have a devil of a time with my allergies. And a bad cold or bad allergies mess up your instrument something awful -- it's like taking a trumpet and pouring a jar of peanut butter into it. Glub, glub! If you have a stuffed-up head cold, the sound simply won't resonate properly in your nasal passages (goodbye head voice and high notes!) and if your throat is messed up, your voice will crack on your "break" notes (the ones in between head and chest voice). And just forget it completely if you have bronchitis.
Of course, all that said, for most people, "I have a cold" really means "I'm scared to death and haven't been practicing like I should!" LOL!
All that's true, but it's also generally said by the ones who can't sing worth a lick anyway. :) I remember last season when Mandissa had a cold and had one of her weaker performances but she was still did a good job. I liked Kevkrom's list too. Hopefully we'll see someone next week and we will all go, that's it, there's the one to win. :)
