WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney's pregnant lesbian daughter Mary will make a "fine mom," President George W. Bush said, sidestepping his past comment that a child ideally would be raised by a mother and father.
Mary Cheney, 37, and her longtime partner, Heather Poe, are expecting their first child, which would be the sixth grandchild for the vice president. Cheney was hired last year as an executive for America Online.
"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child. And I'm happy for her," Bush said in an interview with People magazine.

I guess you'd be happier if followed the biblical example of Lot regarding his daughters..

I understand the President's role as leader of the entire nation compelled him to say what he did. Additionally, neither he nor any President who has occupied the Oval Office since at least Truman has either had some serious personal moral flaws or family members with serious problems. Such scandals make it difficult to use the "bully pulpit" in these matters without being subject to the "speck (or mote in the KJV) vs. two by four" standard Jesus brought up in Matthew 7:5.
However, the times are clearly not changing for the better. Moral standards are declining, unless you hold to a standard of moral relativism or situation ethics. "Polite society" once had a meaning wherein civilized people were restrained by a decorum based on Judeo-Christian morality. It now means in effect political correctness, where people, for fear of social or economic consequences or because they have consumed the Kool Aid of moral relativism, refuse to condemn the excesses of racial minorities, sexual deviants, and even the sworn Muslim extremist enemies of America.
The adaptation of what is now called polite society to sexual deviancy and most other types of immorality (except for smoking cigarettes, obesity, and racism) is clear evidence of the decline of America and the other Western democracies.

Diddle, you spoke right past Rb ver. 2.0. You're entire post did not logically address what he said.
"Bringing up the Mary Cheney issue is EXACTLY like when the Pharasees brought the adulterous woman before Jesus, trying to make political hay."
Who's bringing up the Mary Cheney issue? It's all over the news. Where do you think "go and sin no more" comes from? Diddle your so confused in this conversation.

Where do you think "go and sin no more" comes from? From the same place "Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone."

Nobody's throwing stones, but we do have people calling good evil and evil good.

The prodigal son learned his lesson the hard way and repented. His loving father was only to glad to forgive him.
Mary Cheney does not even acknowledge her sin, let alone repent. She actively promotes an abominable way of life.
I can't see how George Bush can be "happy" for her.
Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

"Uh Oh.... I worry for this thread, "morality" is overcoming common sense again" Can common sense be separated from morality?
Once "common sense" ceases to make moral sense, it can only be called common.

Maybe I'm beginning to see why the president is asking people to pray for him.

You shoudl have kept that 10 seconds of your life.

Bush could have very easily said "I am not going to comment on the personal life of Mary Cheney. I respect her privacy", and leave it at that. ************
You're right. Perhaps he was taken off-guard.

How many truly bible-based evangelical Christian churches promote lesbian birthing or homosexual adoption?
