Bush: happy for Cheney's gay daughter pregnancy

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney's pregnant lesbian daughter Mary will make a "fine mom," President George W. Bush said, sidestepping his past comment that a child ideally would be raised by a mother and father.

Mary Cheney, 37, and her longtime partner, Heather Poe, are expecting their first child, which would be the sixth grandchild for the vice president. Cheney was hired last year as an executive for America Online.

"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child. And I'm happy for her," Bush said in an interview with People magazine.

Sorry, but I can't be happy about deliberately bringing a child into this kind of relationship. It's abnormal and children have enough to deal with in this wacky world!

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I'm not questioning whether the child will be loved or not. The environment in which it will be raised in isn't normal and children shouldn't be used as guinea pigs.
When two women can impregnate each other without the use of a man and a turkey baster, I'll rethink my position. Til then, I believe one man and one woman is the ideal for a family.

It's her life as adult and her baby. Mary has the support of a loving father, which is more than I can say for Alan Keyes, which is why Keyes will never be president.

We are all sinners. I would hope that people can begin to leave the condemnation of others to God - and be about the business of loving God with all their heart. Considering that Kerry was rightly blasted for bringing up the Cheney's personal life ... which is it?
