What I want is the government - Dick Cheney included - not being all so happy that lesbian rights are promoted. It wasn't very long ago, that the government DID outlaw the type of behavior Mary is engaing in.

Take my pick, you say? No problem, I'll take responsibility anytime. That means morality. That means the Government has a duty to promote pro-family values. Cheney is perhaps to blame for the Republicans losing the '06 elections. He - naturally - has to support his daughter, I would too if I were him. But The White House has given lip service to moral conversatives, and it cost them. Big time.

do you want to let people live their life the way they wish as long as they are not hurting others?

As has been established... Mary Cheney's actions are hurting us all. They are adding to the lack of values that made this Country great. So while I don't want the Government to regulate who can and can't have kids, I want policies in force with responsible people in office that promote anti-gay, pro-family values.

the government isn't promoting lesbian rights here, it just isn't preventing a lesbian from having a child

Here is a quote from you: "I want policies in force with responsible people in office that promote anti-gay, pro-family values".

So you are saying you want government to start telling people how they can and cannot act in their most private affairs. You want your own morality legislated

I think that this is not the role of government.
