You are disillusioned by comments posted on FR lately; I am disillusioned by Bush lately. I signed on in 2004 amidst the height of election fever. The MemoGate story is what brought my attention here. I believed in Bush, and bought into the public image he projected--a strong, decisive leader with the will to do what's right.
That veil is torn. Bush has no idea what he's doing, and is controlled by other politicians and events. He has been coasting for a while, and now after the elections he finds himself in a free-fall. People wanted to support him after 9-11 and for a time that helped mask his flaws. The 9-11 Patriotism Effect is gone, and his bungling on delivering anything he promised in the Campaign 2004 has shown him to be weak.
You say I don't know how government works. Maybe not, but neither does Bush. He just repeats the same tired slogans while he becomes more and more isolated and irrelevant.
I had been posting mostly on general/sports threads for a while now, after I had seen the real Bush. I didn't want to go on political threads and play pretend, saying the usual lines of "rope-a-dope," "don't play Poker with W!," etc. I don't believe it and I'm sure a lot of others don't anymore either. After the elections exposed what Bush had done to the GOP, I felt I could stop pretending and start posting what I believed to be true. Others have come to the same conclusion.
You and others still fervently support Bush. That's fine, I hope he is equal to the abilities you attribute to him. I hope he can still make his Presidency a success. Right now I have to say the chances of that are pretty slim, but you never know.
However, calling everyone a Troll who does not suscribe to your rosy worldview is not a good idea. If everyone who doesn't think Bush is a Top 5 President were to be banned, this place would be quite lame. There's only so many times one can read threads about how "Bush is sandbagging the Demoncrats, he's tricking the Treasonous Media and Iraq will be a great Ally in the WOT."
You're painting with a mighty broad brush here....
