JOHN Bolton's resignation as the American ambassador to the United Nations makes it official: The Bush administration is now drifting idly toward a mixture of centrism and impotence.
In less than a month, two of President Bush's stronger and more independent aides - Donald Rumsfeld and Bolton - have been dispatched. Rumsfeld's designated successor, former CIA head Robert Gates, is a leading member of the Beltway's permanent bureaucracy.
The administration seems to be waiting for the Baker-Hamilton commission of old Washington hands to dictate U.S. policy on Iraq. Leaks from the commission suggest it will recommend a gradual U.S. withdrawal camouflaged by negotiations with Iran and Syria over a new Mideast grand bargain.
All of this feeds an exaggerated defeatism in the United States over Iraq.
.....
Rumsfeld's abrupt firing was an act of flagrant disloyalty to a loyal subordinate. The defense secretary had made his share of mistakes - notably, his failure to crush looting immediately after the fall of Baghdad - but he had followed the president's policy faithfully.
.......
We don't know for certain the reasons for Bolton's departure: Either the White House wasn't prepared to fight for him, or he was no longer prepared to lend his voice to the diplomatic charade over Iran and North Korea. Either way, his departure demonstrates timidity on the administration's part. The net result will be that Bush has one less loyal subordinate in the shrinking ranks of his own administration.

...HA!!!
I usually avoid giving the bashers the attention they crave..
that should have been to #25
Howlin, have I just entered Bizarroworld?
What the heck are you guys smoking?
"Can't we all just get along?"
It's been a huge disappointment, especially the GOP allowing the dems to preside over a Republican congress. Hastert defending a dem thief. The list goes on and on. Now they're just glad to have their dem masters back and are hiding until January.
"Mr DailyKOS is saying that according to his sources, the nomination is now Barack Hussein Obama's to lose. He says Hillary cannot win, as things stand now".
...I don't care what "polls" are saying about Obama. He's black, his name is that of 2 evil men and his experience is nill. This country is not ready for something this extreme and harsh. He can't win for the same reasons as Alan Keyes didn't. (mostly black)
Just some?
So many trolls, so little time. What ever happened to supporting our troops. Or did you drink the media koolaid?
Well, for a couple of years a Bush wasn't a wimp, but blood will out.
It's really quite entertaining. The trolls are out in force.
I'll have A Long Island Iced Tea, please.
I just wondered who you were supporting; you sure have been trashing the sitting POTUS a lot.
Oh really?
"And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."
Iran is shaking in their boots that they so "Misunderestimated" the above statement. We've really starved them and treated them as hostile.
Them and Syria made their decision: They are with the terrorist...and we've done nothing to them.
Now...let the excuses flow (and I know they will...but it doesn't erase the speech and promises).
I hope that you tell me that you are pleasantly surprised when he proves you wrong. ;-)

With the slim majority, what did you expect? We don't have a majority with rinos. And that falls back to the states and local elections.
I was being kind.
Make mine with the top shelf please.
The American Left, thirsty as ever for the blood of its adversaries, demands human sacrifices in tribute to its fantasies. Rumsfeld was offered up, and gladly accepted by the High Priests of the New York Times editorial board. But, as you should know by now, no sacrifice is ever enough to whet the appetite of wealthy liberal Sodomites.
We are at war, partly to help Iraqis regain control of their destiny, but moreover to save the world from the scourge of intolerant Mohammedans seeking to destroy all those who reject their 7th century fanaticism. I look forward to a leader who admits as much and is willing to tell the testicularly-challenged editorialists of our Dead Tree Media just where they can go, and how.
