Mary Cheney, the vice president's openly gay daughter, is pregnant. She and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, are "ecstatic" about the baby, due in late spring, said a source close to the couple.

It's a baby boom for grandparents Dick and Lynne Cheney: Their older daughter, Elizabeth, went on leave as deputy assistant secretary of state before having her fifth child in July. "The vice president and Mrs. Cheney are looking forward with eager anticipation to the arrival of their sixth grandchild," spokesman Lea Anne McBride said last night.

Cheney, 37, was a key aide to her father during the 2004 reelection campaign and now is vice president for consumer advocacy at AOL. Poe, 45, a former park ranger, is renovating their Great Falls home.

News of the pregnancy will undoubtedly reignite the debate about gay marriage. During the campaign, Mary Cheney was criticized by gay activists for not being more publicly supportive of same-sex marriage. Her father said people "ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to" but deferred to the president's policy supporting a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages. Cheney herself called the proposed amendment "a gross affront to gays and lesbians everywhere" in her book, "Now It's My Turn: A Daughter's Chronicle of Political Life," which was published in May.

Cheney has described her relationship with Poe -- whom she took to last year's White House dinner honoring Prince Charles and Camilla-- as a marriage. The two met in 1988 while playing ice hockey and began dating four years later. They moved from Colorado to Virginia a year ago to be closer to Cheney's family.

So, basically you think that the gays are going to make all the good god-fearing Conservative men divorce their wives and marry other men? Because otherwise I don't see how it's being "shoved" down our throats. Like all interest groups, gay people are advocating for what they want.

By showing up in our schools and demanding that they teach their sick lifestyle to other people's kids.

By infiltrating our churches and synagogues and insisting that established teaching be altered--and by raping our young men in the case of the Catholic Church and others.

By insisting that my tax dollars go to pay for illnesses they contracted doing what comes unnaturally to them.

By changing established law and tradition--and not legislatively, mind you, but by means of judicial tyranny--to suit their own selfish interests.

I call that "shoving down our throats."

To them I say: "Stop trying to impose your immorality on the vast majority of society that wants nothing to do with your repulsive acts."

My mom's a teacher, so I know that most schools are very sensitive to the wishes of the parents. I very much doubt that a majority of the schools would force that on five year olds.

A. First, the fact that you think that all gay people are sexual predators is offensive.

B. There's no more sexual predators in the Catholic Church than there are high school teachers that sleep with their students. The reason why the Church got in trouble was because the bishops decided to sweep the abuse under the rug rather than notifying the proper authorities.

There's many gay people in committed relationships that don't contract HIV, and there's many straight people who engage in risky sexual behavior or use intravenous drugs that do. HIV/ AIDS is probably the biggest threat to Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia (Thailand), and East Europe/ Russia, and that's due to risky heterosexual behavior (especially prostitution).

Frankly, I'd prefer that everyone worked through legislation and referendum and am concerned that legalizing gay marriage on "equality" grounds would lead to the legalization of actual offensive lifestyles, such as polygamy. However, conservative pressure groups use the Courts to their end, so I don't see why liberal pressure groups cannot do the same.

Most gays just want to be left alone to live with their partner; they aren't looking for converts.

One doesn't need a penis to sodomize a woman. Many lesbian couples mimic heterosexual copulation using a prosthetic penis, commonly known as a "strap on". For more examples, try googling "sodomized with", although I hope that isn't necessary.

In May 2000, the American Psychiatric Association issued a Fact Sheet, "Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues," which includes this statement:

"Currently, there is a renewed interest in searching for biological etiologies for homosexuality. However, to date there are no replicated scientific studies supporting any specific biological etiology for homosexuality."

I think the original poster meant it's being shoved "in his face", not "down his throat" -- he'd much prefer that gays and lesbians call no attention to their sexual orientation in public.

Why do you think that there's more predators in the Catholic Church than in the general population? Frankly, sexual predators make up a small portion of the population and therefore would likely make up a minuscule portion of both populations. The scandal in the Catholic Church was a big deal not because a large minority of priests are predators but because the U.S. bishops swept the abuse under the rug. When a coach or teacher (especially a man) molests a student, it doesn't generally become national news because the school suspends the teacher during the investigation and reports the incident to the police.

The American Psychiatric Association is trying to be politically correct as they're afraid saying homosexuality has a genetic component would lead some people to label it a "disease" that needs to be cured with drugs or gene therapy rather than a genetic variation similar to having green eyes or being left-handed.
