Mary Cheney, the vice president's openly gay daughter, is pregnant. She and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, are "ecstatic" about the baby, due in late spring, said a source close to the couple.
It's a baby boom for grandparents Dick and Lynne Cheney: Their older daughter, Elizabeth, went on leave as deputy assistant secretary of state before having her fifth child in July. "The vice president and Mrs. Cheney are looking forward with eager anticipation to the arrival of their sixth grandchild," spokesman Lea Anne McBride said last night.
Cheney, 37, was a key aide to her father during the 2004 reelection campaign and now is vice president for consumer advocacy at AOL. Poe, 45, a former park ranger, is renovating their Great Falls home.
News of the pregnancy will undoubtedly reignite the debate about gay marriage. During the campaign, Mary Cheney was criticized by gay activists for not being more publicly supportive of same-sex marriage. Her father said people "ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to" but deferred to the president's policy supporting a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages. Cheney herself called the proposed amendment "a gross affront to gays and lesbians everywhere" in her book, "Now It's My Turn: A Daughter's Chronicle of Political Life," which was published in May.
Cheney has described her relationship with Poe -- whom she took to last year's White House dinner honoring Prince Charles and Camilla-- as a marriage. The two met in 1988 while playing ice hockey and began dating four years later. They moved from Colorado to Virginia a year ago to be closer to Cheney's family.

OTOSOTC (on the other side of the coin)... people keep hopefully talking about how V.P.Cheney will be a positive influence on this child. I honestly doubt it, Cheney will be limited in two factors, time/health and limitors placed by the sodimite parents.
Just be careful, there is some baiters out there that would like to draw ya into the troll-line with one line replies meant not to argue your points, but to push you to say something you havn't thought through completely and can be twisted.
But the point that perhaps these parents may of put careers above parenting is a valid point IMHO.

OK. My original point is still diminished as it revolved around Ms. Cheney's attempting to remain as much as possible a private citizen. By engaging herself through books and appearances she's taken on the public figure role (with or sans activism). This is fine, or not, per each of our opinions, but it spoils my hypothesis about why Ms. Cheney is treated differently by FReepers than she would be if she was a Dim.

Those who approve of sexual perversion and would redefine language and morality are working against the preservation of our nation and its heritage. What is the point of defeating Muslim extremists or lessening government regulations and lowering taxes that restrict economic growth if our society becomes so obsessed with self-gratification and immoral behavior that our nation becomes an intolerable place for people who hold to traditional, Biblical morality?
If America keeps going in this direction, I say bring on the Hispanics and the Asians. Maybe they can establish a more decent society than the whites have.

I also think this is being done as a jamming to keep Dick Chenny from running for the presidency. It makes him difficult to elect with this Mary Cheny liability.
There should be laws requiring only married NORMAL couples have access to artificial fertilizaiton clinics. There is a significant societal interest which could and should easily prevail in the courts. (ala the 11th DCA opinion on the fact it is legal to keep homosexuals from adopting children)
The other question is whether Mary Chenny's state allows her sex partner to adopt the child. 27 states don't allow or restrict secont parent (homosexual sex partner) adoptions.

He has said numerous times he's not interested, so I think your comment is spurious. However, you keep referring to "Chenny" and "Cheny" interchangeably, neither of which is actually the Vice President's name, so is that who you mean?

No one has ever suggested such legislation. No one has ever questioned the legality of IVF, for that matter. No legislator is going to be the first to stand up and propose laws that prohibit women from trying to become mothers.
newsflash, most adoptive kids NEVER KNOW. In fact most IV children are never told.
No matter how you slice it, two homosexuals such as these two women can never ever establish even a venier of normalcy for the mother's child. (there is that new zeland study of 200 homosexual woman couples which showed that girls grew to be sexually promiscous and the boys were sexually timid and confused)
It is not the usual process because two homosexuals have to explain that the reason they are together is because they had a common interest in a sexual fetish. It would be no different that if they had to explain why one parent was literally an animal (ie dog cat goat cow)
