Well said. Virginians need a candidate who has the sense to not use a stupid, esoteric term like 'macaca' in a public place. That's what lost the race for Allen. Virginia has a huge African-American population and the Republicans have to go fight for that vote, not avoid it.
Secondly, the local papers and TV stations provided ZERO coverage of Allen's last minute release of the passages from Webb's perverted novels. Sure, they were reported on the Drudge Report, but locals tend to read the Virginian Pilot and other local papers. Go figure that 67 percent of voters voted for the marriage amendment. Had Virginians seen the outrageous passages from those novels, they would have fled from Webb in droves. The black churches would have responded, but the headlines never made the press.
Allen stuck his foot in his mouth and alienated a large chunk of the population and a liberal media capitalized on the mistake.
