The Judge, in this case, was in fact nominated by President Bush in 2003. The Judge's resume is pretty good (I've just read it). Appears the judge is going by the laws on the books, given the facts you and PRND21 have provided.

Can either of you explain WHY the horridly long sentences?

The long sentences was because the use of their duty weapon to do their job was brought into court as a weapon used during the criminal act of an assault under Federal law which is at least 10 years.

Being they were on duty, it is retarded to begin with.
