I prefer it when they give a reason first (like in a note), and then kill themselves during the process. That way, not only do we avoid having to do 20-some years of death row, but we also know the motive. Fortunately, that did happen here, so we know that it had something to do with a thing that happened to him 20 years ago. In other words, he was a nutcase with a grudge.
I don't agree. In cases like this, where it is clear the perp is guilty, then there is no point in processing them. The police should release the perp to the local community, and provide people with small knives, ice picks, soldering irons and acid, and let them deal with him. Police cannot assist, but should stick around to make sure they don't kill him too quickly. The execution should take a minimum of two hours, up to a week, to allow for overnight wound pain and infection.
