That's just what I thought.
what a pathetic thing to say about the Amish!
CNN
State Police office on phone says Perp made some children leave the school, then he started shooting.
All in all the Amish are good conservative folks.
If you can't pray for these little ones, much less insult them....you have no place here!!!!!!!!
MSNBC reporting there will be a news breifing in about 10 minutes
They're still not certain.
Sheesh..this is unbelieveable.
Most of the Amish I've met are very fine folks.
Actually I envy their simple lifestyle. I worked a summer as a bricklayer and I didn't smell very good either. Mom actually put up a shower in the back yard so I could clean up before I was allowed in the house.
York County is gigantic....maybe there's one in York County and one in Lancaster County .
I've broken bread with many Amish families in my life. Sat at their tables and eaten their food. Worked with them and played with their children.
You are a bigoted fool!
"I am trying to figure out why someone went crazy."
I learned a long time ago that it is impossible to figure out why someone goes crazy or why someone's beliefs are crazy. When you try to figure out the "why" you only end up trying to make excuses for the behavior or belief. When you know something is crazy, just call it crazy because most likely that is exactly what it is.
As a Texan married to a pennsylvanian how many times have I heard that! Oh yea and Lebanon is Lep'non!
met some Amish in south-central Illinois. very soft spoken, polite but self asured people. the conversation was a sheer delight.
Me neither Graybeard, me neither. I just shake my head in response to some, and sit on my fingers.
agree
Damn! I meant that for exile.. I'm soo0oo sorry!
Need to lay down....fever today
If this was a student, he.she had to be young. The Amish don't believe in education beyond the very basic. That's why the school only goes to grade 8.
What is very interesting though, is that the Amish are vry family oriented. Since Mom and Dad work at home, they are always around w/ their kids.
A person doesn't become part of the Amish church until late teens/early adulthood. Amish teens go thru a period where they can have all of the outer worldly things, like cars, cell phones, & so on. Some of the kids go pretty wild and experiment w/ drugs and alcohol. Some will decide to give up all the real world things and join the church, some leave & don't go back.
Is there any word yet on whether the whacko is an "English" yet?
So sad, horrible to happen to such nice people.
