IOW, it's merely one more political propaganda piece by the inside the Beltway crowd.

And a retail sales tax is sooooooooo much different than the FairTax. The commission just thought the FairyTax numbers were a fairytale and examined what they thought was a realistic plan of raising revenues with a retail tax. For instance, the commission did not buy the fairytax idea that a government could tax itself to raise revenues. Gee, who would have thunk that would not work?

It does address the FairTax, but does also figure the sales tax in several different ways. No matter how you cut it, the National Retail Sales tax is a loser.
