Abolish the federal income tax!
No more taxes on savings and investments!
A "Fair Tax" can completely fund the federal government, Social Security and Medicare!
You control how much you spend!
So what are we waiting for?
You, the taxpayers of America burdened with an income tax that is costly, wasteful and sinking America into inevitable bankruptcy. All current forms of federal taxation would end! You would keep 100 percent of your paycheck. You control how you spend your paycheck. It's your money. You make the decisions as to how you want to spend your money.
The Fair Tax would create more jobs and give the USA a level playing field when selling overseas. United States Senator John Linder (R-Georgia) is sponsoring the "Fair Tax Act of 2005." If enacted by Congress, it would accomplish all of the above. Simple. Easy. And affordable.
It's the best way to downsize government without disrupting the economy.
To join the "Fair Tax" movement in America, just sign the "Economic Freedom & Fairness" Petition supporting forward-thinking solutions. Go to www.grassfire.net and liberate the working class of taxpayers. Grassfire is trying to give the working class the same kind of freedom America's founders gave to those who joined the American Revolution in 1776 with the "Declaration of Independence." We won the Revolutionary War, but have lost our country since the 16th Amendment (income tax) became "Law" in 1913.

And how about your accountant? Every year at tax time when he empathizes with you about how bad the income tax system is. You think he'd vote for eliminating it? That would cut his billable hours by 80%.
And, of course, the FairTax is a "grassroots movement", supported by little people like you and me. It must be good for us common folk, every person or organization the opposes the FairTax has an agenda.
The FairTax is the brainchild of three wealthy men who each put up $1.3 million of their own money and raised another $17 million to pay/buy studies and focus groups. Yet we are asked to believe their data is objective and unlike other special interest groups, they alone, have our best interests at heart.
Further, the FairTax is supported by the American Farm Bureau, one of the more successful lobbying groups for government handouts to its special interests. When the FairTaxers claim that their scheme breaks the power of lobbyists and returns it to us, the people, I don't believe it.
The unscientific "polls" they use consist of questions similar to:
"Do you hate the IRS"
"Would you like to get 100% of your paycheck"
"Would you like a tax rebate every month?"
ad nauseum
P. T. Barnum just loves this kind of stuff -- In fact, I think he invented it.
Sadly, the supporters can't even seperate tax law from tax enforcement, much less tell the truth about your new, nearly 30%, tax rate.
Many of the studies you refer to, were bought and paid for by the FairTax organization - hardly objective.
Texas has a sales tax rate of 6.5%, and Florida, 6%. Texas has a host of other taxes you might want to check out:
http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxrates.html
But what do the relatively low state sales tax rates have to do with the FairTax?
It is customary when responding to a poster that you ping that poster. Otherwise some would think you cowardly.
I think it is cowardly that groanup accuses everyone that disagrees with the FairTax of harboring ulterior, and often illegal, motives for their disagreement. What do you think of that xcamel?
And that is the primary function groanup has on the FairTax org chart. He is the go-to guy for making these types of attacks--
The FairTax Director of Unsupported Personal Attacks.
Do you think these guys have FairTax business cards?
Excellent post!
The FairTax eliminates one government tool used to put criminals out of business - tax evasion.
Glad you liked it! I think that the "Florida/Texas are successfully using a FairTax model" lie has been obliterated on this thread. Not that they won't trot it out again tomorrow as though it had never been discussed before...
You'll notice who I pinged. Please repost it.
At least the nrst proponents put the information out there to discuss. You can't even do that, but you want us to embrace your fictitious "plan"?!
Wow. This is rich.
PS any IRS agents been by to give you $125k in cash for doing such a nice, neat job of filling out forms? BWAHAHAHAHAAA!
You Rob are the only one who screams about it though. So naturally one would assume that thou doth protest too much.
My problem with you guys is your inane attempts to paint US as the attack dogs when the opposite is true and anyone who reads these pages can see that. We are the ones who post numbers, facts, tables, charts, quotes, links over and over again ony to be called names for it. We don't get debate we get sniping petty attacks. Such as your post here.
Since you're hanging around why don't you explain to us all how the fair tax is going to cause massive inflation immediately?
Or how about a primer on purchasing power under the fair tax vs. the income tax. Go ahead.
Or better yet, why don't you accuse me of drinking a half gallon of whiskey? LOL!! Actually I prefer beer.
How do you figure? Are criminals barred from purchasing a "used" home, shopping at antique stores, or just plain participating in other black market activities?
At worst, criminals pay what they are paying now, according to the FairTaxers, because prices on new goods and services will fall.
With the IRS gone along with its financial investigative arm, criminals have one less thing to worry about.
That there is no argument against the data/numbers/charts/links/quotes etc should be a strong sign.
Give 'em a couple of days.
LM:How do you figure? Are criminals barred from purchasing a "used" home, shopping at antique stores...
No. Why would you think that buying a used home or shopping at an aniques store prevents someone from paying 100% of their taxes? This is unrelated. Wow.
Under the nrst, one pays 100% of his federal tax burden in purchases - whatever they may be.
You don't like that, do you?
At worst, criminals pay what they are paying now, according to the FairTaxers,
That's not what I think. Who thinks this?
...because prices on new goods and services will fall.
Prices will fall between 9% (low estimate)and 16% (high estimate). The nrst marginal rate is 23%. Beyond that, the price reductions will be a result of the elimination of things OTHER than taxes per se. Just ask Rob. So the 9%-16% reduction is partly taxes, partly tax costs.
You obviously haven't read the Fair Tax Plan.
In both Florida and Texas, when you get your paycheck, no state income taxes are taken out of it. Instead those taxes are collected through the normal state sales tax levied on individual purchases. In every other state you pay state income tax. Look at your own paycheck.
