The following is the complete text of Mel Gibson's statement regarding his arrest for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol:
"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person.
"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said.
"Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry.
"I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."
Ick.
See, you're assuming he doesn't. When you're drunk, you just don't say things that have never, ever crossed your mind...poltergeists don't come and plant thoughts in your head...in fact, it's the opposite. Oh, he said what he thinks about Jews. Now, as far as you're not believing the story, you can check this out:
LOL!
Jesus was a Jew, baby doll.
Dear sinkspur,
As quick as you were to defend him before he admitted to his terrible behavior, you now seem equally quick to condemn him.
I'll remember not to tell you my worst sins. ;-)
sitetest
He made a mistake. He will pay for it.
Since he blames Jews for the world's problems...he's probably now going to blame us for his. I will bet you now there will be no apology..and if there is...who cares. We know what he thinks now..I don't need his apology...he's dead to me.
I think his apology shows clearly that he is ashamed of those feelings. He needs God's Grace to overcome them, obviously.
I've done and thought and felt enough things that I'm ashamed of to have some compassion.
WOW...i didnt find his post to be anti-semitic in anyway.
Seems like you have some built up hostility. You may want to deal with that before posting such rants on a public forum.
Yeah he'll have to say three hail Marys and three our Fathers.
You sound like you have a good handle on this guy's problem. I've never seen a thread full of more bombastic comments about someone than this one. It's amazing the hostility that lurks inside some folks, celebrities and posters alike.

We are not to judge hearts. We ARE to make discerning, wise judgements about actions.
"he who is spiritual judges all things. For... we have the mind of Christ" (1 Cor. 2:15-16).
You are correct that ultimate forgiveness does not come from any of us. Nevertheless, we still should in no way be so quick to give our own forgiveness to antisemitism.
We don't know for sure if the guy is an antisemite, but it's starting to look an awful lot as if he is. I've always had the feeling that Mel was a good guy, and maybe he is. I still don't like this glimpse of his dark side.
We hear alot on this forum about people who are attacking Christianity. How about a little forgiveness for them too? Because you can bet that some of them have good intentions too.
And yes, he can go to hell and yes, I am completely sober.
He can't. He is obviously a Jew-hater and so anything he says or does will be insincere.
Can you provide information about those Conservatives that are pro-Israel and anti-Semitic? Maybe it's me but I've never found any of those Conservatives
thanks.
Can you please be specific when you say that you saw evidence of a BIIIGGGG drug usage by Rush. Since you are evidently part of his inner circle, maybe elaborate on your accusations.
This has really made the day of the anti-Passion bunch.
AND it gives all the critics of THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST the opportunity to smugly say, "I TOLD YOU SO." And that's what everyone who stuck up for Gibson should be upset about.
