Thus begins and ends my adventure in allemoticons.com. What is it with these people, their smileys expire in two hours? Hmm. Come to think of it, that's a pretty good idea for smileys :-)

ST. PETERSBURG -- Three of the four candidates for Florida attorney general said Friday the government should not have intervened in the Terri Schiavo case, but one -- state Rep. Joe Negron -- said it was right for the state and Congress to try to usurp the courts.

Negron, a Republican from Stuart, joined fellow Republicans Bill McCollum and Everett Rice, and the lone Democrat, Walter "Skip" Campbell, in a candidates' forum during the annual Florida Society of Newspaper Editors convention. They are running to replace Charlie Crist, who is a candidate for governor.

Snip...

Negron stood out from the others when asked about Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman who died last year following an epic legal battle over whether she should be kept alive artificially.

He disagreed with the other candidates, who said the ruling of the many courts that heard the case was the ultimate authority. Negron said if he had been attorney general, he would have intervened.

It was wrong, he said, "for a judge to say you can't put water on the lips of a citizen of Florida."

Haleigh Poutre update...

Perhaps no one has had a more in-depth look at the events surrounding Poutre's recent life than Emily Smith Lee, a Sharon resident and lawyer with the McDermott, Will, and Lee Law Firm in Boston.

Lee was an integral part of a support team for a panel appointed by Gov. Mitt Romney to investigate the events surrounding the decision to remove Poutre from life support after being allegedly beaten by her stepfather, Jason Strickland.

St. Pete Times does a blurb on the Gov candidates...

When Davis criticized state government for last year's Terri Schiavo end-of-life debate, Smith shot back that he put together a coalition to "stand up to the governor," who supported efforts to keep her alive.

Of the four candidates, Gallagher struck the most rigid partisan posture. When asked about the national debate over immigration, he forcefully declared illegally entering of the country must be stopped "at whatever cost." The others were more measured in their response. Gallagher also displayed skepticism about global warming, but agreed alternative energy sources should be pursued.

If Crist was not invoking Jeb Bush - "the best governor in America," and "my friend" - he was mentioning his role as state attorney general. Crist said he has fought to make Floridians safer and would continue to do so. He too noted the race's philosophical undercurrent.

"Florida," he said, "is at a crossroads."

Look at the biased language from this AP creep:

>>...right for the state and Congress to try to usurp the courts.

Usurp?? The Florida constitution requires state government to protect citizens. If anybody usurped authority, it was the Greer court preventing Terri's family from making PRIVATE medical decisions.

>> [Terri]...who died last year...

Wrong verb. She wasn't dying and didn't die on her own. She was put to death by judicial order, surrounded by police to make sure nobody saved her from execution.

>> ...following an epic legal battle over whether she should be kept alive artificially.

Food and drink are not artificial sustenance. Neither was Greer's decision based on withdrawing "artificial" life support. It was based on Terri's own (non-existent) "wish" to refuse MEDICAL treatment.

>> ...the ruling of the many courts that heard the case was...

One court heard the case, not "many." Cases are seldom tried in more than one court.

>> [Terri]...who died last year...

A good friend told me tongue in cheek that you never tell your wife, "I dropped your expensive crystal vase on the floor." You always say "It fell". Always make it impersonal to get off the hook.

From the article:

>> The state cited medical tests showing that Poutre would never recover and the decision was made to end her life, as there was no relative left to claim her

It was not the process that was under attack according to her, but whether the process had the right information to be able to adequately represent Poutre. Precedent may well have been set by the Haleigh Poutre case.

"We got involved after there was a human outcry," she said. "With our recommendations now in place, hopefully next time there is a similar case, the child will have protection that is well-informed."

The one I borrowed represented the motion of certain mammalian attributes, evidently without the benefit of a dirndl. In real life that may be an emotional experience.

Little by little we make progress. A few years ago the presstitutes got away with saying Terri was "brain dead," "in a coma" and "on life support." And, until the autopsy, Michael got away with saying she collapsed due to bulimia. Now the bulimia theory is out and I'd like to get rid of that word "collapsed" -- it sounds innocent. But she didn't simply fall lifeless to the floor. She was put there by a man twice her size who caused serious traumas to her spine and right thigh as he kneeled on her back, pinning her flat. I don't believe she could breathe. Blood tests showed she had lactic acidosis -- a condition caused by extreme exertion in the absence of oxygen. She fought for her life. But it was hopeless with a 250 man on her back. The lack of oxygen severely damaged her brain.

IMPORTANT FLORIDA GOVERNOR'S RACE: TOM GALLAGHER is the only candidate for governor who is AGAINST AMNESTY and is for SECURING THE BORDERS.

Please pass this around Free Republic.

Crist is "for amnesty", Davis is "for amnesty", Smith is "for amnesty". Gallagher is "against amnesty". Today's Tampa Tribune Saturday METRO SECTION.

(by the way, I met Crist in 2002 and he said that terrorism was the most important issue at that time. Well, then why has he forsaken the overwhelming number of Americans who are against amnesty?)

OTHER NEWS: Frank Nagano for Fla AG is the only candidate who supported Terri Schiavo's right to live). I saw the other candidates at a forum and none of the others are capable enough to be Florida's AG. We need someone capable since Crist just fouled up that dept. Please support the smart choice, FRANK NAGANO.

Your 601. What good is intelligence if you have no common sense? Saving Terri's life would have been moral and the only common sense way to handle her life and death matter.

Then his brother got blamed for Katrina shortly after Terri died. There are many to blame for the dehydration and starvation deaths after Katrina but it looked like indifference to me in either case.

With Katrina, Americans saw in public on sidewalks and interstate highways and overpasses what happened to Terri while under armed guard. Dehydration and starvation are BARBARIC. Looking at Katrina gives us an idea of what they did to Terri.

It was despicable and I'm still getting emails constantly from all over the United States from people who still want justice for Terri.

There is no statute of limitations on murder and I was thinking that maybe Mikey is trying to get death cultists elected so that he doesn't have to worry about ever being prosecuted. If some true pro-life, legalistic people with honor do get elected, maybe they'll prosecute him. Mikey imo, is doing his pac to help him avoid prosecution at a later date. Mikey is just one player. If one falls, they all fall down.

But, when he's not in Vegas, he works at THE JAIL. So, he's at jail, just not behind the bars.
