Sometimes it gets me that people go into a frenzy because some entertainer or a nobody makes a stupid or disgusting statement that will have no impact on policy. Yet they are silent as to what was actually done to Terri (and to other disabled and elderly people).

He would have either a) healed her completely; or b) taken her hand and led her Home.

What he would -not- have done was perform any action that would have kept her in her debilitated state for one minute longer.

If you are a Christian, then you must believe that he was, indeed, there. Surely, if Jesus exists, he heard all the prayers said on Terri's behalf. Yet, nothing changed. Terrie is dead.

Could Jesus have stopped that? If you are a Christian, you must believe that he could have. He did not.

And that's the bottom line of that. If you are a Christian, you must believe that Terri's death is God's will.

It certainly does, though not, perhaps, the one you have in mind. I have been reading this entire exchange, and felt called to sign up just so I could say that I think you all should be ashamed of the way you have treated this poster (pageonetoo) who has done nothing but attempt to share his faith with you. In the post I quoted above, you refer to him as rabid, and this is a relatively mild example of the things that have been said to him. The fact that a person does not share your views on Mrs. Schiavo does not mean that they are evil, death-loving Nazis.

Perhaps y'all don't realize how you appear to others, outside your own small group, who happen upon this thread. Your over-the-top name-calling of anyone with whom you disagree severely damages your credibility, along the lines of the boy who cried wolf. If you truly wish to educate people and persuade them to your point of view, you might consider adopting a less confrontational manner as you present your information and interact with strangers.

I offer these words with the kindest of intentions; I hope you hear them in that spirit.

I said nothing about disabled people as a group, which is what "stereotyping" would require. I described Mrs, Schiavo as debilitated--an accurate, if understated, description for a person whose cerebral cortex has largely deteriorated into spinal fluid.

Are you sure you're responding to the right post? My post said nothing about "PVS" or "Michael Schiavo", let alone "fairy tales". If you have a message for Mr. Schiavo, you would do better delivering it yourself. I don't know the man, nor do I know why you inserted this non-sequitor here.
