No, I think someone said they called him that on the AI boards first. I saw it when someone copied a post from Vote for the Worst over here.

I hope Taylor really cuts loose on his CD and shows his full potential. I have a feeling we were only able to see a glimpse of what he's really capable of.I agree. Love that harmonica. This morning on Good Day L.A., the hosts (Steve Edwards, I think) asked Taylor what he saw himself doing musically.
Taylor got zero sleep last night (and Kat got only about an hour), so he was very happy but a little subdued. Still, I thought he gave a very interesting answer. The gist was that he saw himself in the Willie Nelson mold. He said Willie wasn't accepted by either pop or country early in his career, but that Nelson almost made his own genre.
What I took from his response is that Taylor sees himself following in the footsteps artists like Dylan, Hank Williams, and Willie -- men who carved their own musical niche.
If Clive Davis and his schlock-pop inclinations don't get in Taylor's way, we could be in for something really special when his album comes out.

He said that he had had that nickname since he was a little guy.

When you hear Under the Radar you see into Tay Tay's heart. It's a great album and I can't imagine him making it better.
Didn't know there was also another album out there from before.

I think that that ghoul-look that Taylor has when he's just standing around and not singing can be a bit disconcerting when thinking about how he'll compare to others.
It's funny how different he looks when he's singing.

That smile he had when he was singing after he won, was really endearing. We didn't see much of that smile!

Good for her!
I read that she was a congressional page one year for an Okla congressman. And she finished her degree recently, which I also think is great.

Which proves conclusively that Wolfstar a) Has a split personality, or b) Works and plays well with everyone...ROFLMAO! Hopefully a little bit of both. Split personalities might be able to get you into places that bar only one type. ;-)
As for working and playing well with everyone...ummm I have to confess that most Dims are usually not on my "make nice" list. I mean, Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, and Maxine Waters are all from my state, and I simply never play well with them. LOL!

It's not like he's going to Congress and doing rallies about gay marriage and such. I was just pointing out that that other poster might be doing what a lot of people do and that is make their purchases based on politics.

I was wondering what made him change his mind about appearing on Idol, too. Maybe he never intended to be on earlier but was only going to be in the finale. Was he the only guest to perform without any idols last night?
I heard an interview with Nigel about this. The AI producers wanted to do a Prince night, featuring Prince songs, but Prince would not agree to "work with" the idols.
Nigel said that as much as possible for all theme nights they wanted the performers to provide coaching for the idols. Since Price wouldn't do it, they nixed Prince night.
I guess the finale was ok because Prince didn't have to interact with any idols.

What really tickled me about that Toni Braxton debacle was the way Taylor jerked his hand off her hip like it had been scalded! LOL! Poor Taylor -- I think she embarrassed him. He wasn't sure just what he was grabbing onto in front of a national audience! :) He never missed a beat though! lol

have you listened to his Ala npr review? He talked about the old style soul singers that he models himself upon.
my husband who is sort of a music critic and does know about music, has only heard taylor on the show and has not been impressed. I think if he were to listen to those two songs that are linked "Hell of a Day" and "Under the Radar" he would change his mind. I did not hear too much Joe Cocker.

Just for you (and a few others :), here are the screencaps of the winning moment:First: Was it just me or were others a little annoyed by how Katharine didn't get out of the way and let Taylor have his moment?
Second: Nigel Lythgoe was on KTLA-Channel 5 here in L.A. this morning. The hosts said something about how they were disappointed that Taylor didn't get all the confetti and stuff, and that the actual results announcement seemed rushed. Lythgoe said it was because Prince showed up literally three minutes before going on the air. They had been trying to get Prince for awhile and he only committed late.
Lythgoe said he knew once Prince committed to appear, he'd show up. But no one knew where he was until three minutes before he went on. Lythgoe was at pains to say Prince is a professional and was probably sitting in a limo somewhere nearby watching the show so he'd know when to go into the theater.
But I thought Taylor was really short-changed some last night and was mildly annoyed. Taylor playing his harmonic made up for it.

Ya know, I don't recall how they introduced hi last night. Do you? I think technically its that symbol, but most articles still call him Prince.
No, he's officially back to being plain old Prince.

HA HA HA!
By the way, I think YOU should write next year's Idol finale singles!
To: Pure Country
It's funny how nicknames like that stick.
To: Wolfstar
yeah, it seemed sort of anticlimatic.
To: Wolfstar
I wish they had done it even 5 minutes earlier so we all could have basked in it a bit more. Oh yeah, and Taylor, too. ;-)

I guess the finale was ok because Prince didn't have to interact with any idols. Exactly what I figured. Too bad he doesn't realize that people pay attention to things like that, too. ;)
