Date-rape drug allegation in Duke case
Newsday (NY) ^ | April 24, 2006 | BY JENNIFER SMITH

The exotic dancer who accused members of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her at a party may have been slipped a date-rape drug, according to an interview with the second dancer in the May 1 issue of Newsweek that appeared on stands today.

Newsweek also reported that a defense attorney said some DNA evidence had been found under the accuser's fingernails, but that the first round of DNA testing - which did not incriminate any of the 46 players swabbed - was inconclusive about identity. Results from a second round of tests are expected this week.

The accuser, a 27-year-old black college student and mother, said she was raped and beaten by white students on March 13 after performing for them at a house party. Two lacrosse team members, Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, and Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, N.J., were charged Tuesday. Defense lawyers have maintained their clients' innocence, offering a detailed timeline and time-stamped photos from the party that they say throw the woman's story into doubt.

This is a best case scenario for Nifong. That way the Lax players are still guilty, since the media has already convicted them....

Wow, talk about drama queen, eh?

If she was so distraught about that girl, why'd she try to dump her in the parking lot at Kroger's?

What a piece of work. If she lied in a deposition, she should be charged with everything they can.
Hard to believe witch hunts are still happening. Or sad to believe.

I can't believe that they are actually going to take any of her statements seriously. She sounds crazy.

She said the lacrosse team said that they shoved $100 under the door........she said that was a "pure T lie"......of course, the police report is looking for $20 bills, right?

But she's put herself in the bathroom now!

"Death threats is the reason"

That's the ostensible reason the real reason is the rape didn't occur.

Yes! Of course, the DA probably won't continue the case, so she won't have to testify for either side.

Defense Lawyer Files First Motions By Darla Miles
(04/24/06 - DURHAM) - A defense attorney for one of the two Duke lacrosse players charged with rape, files motions to clear his client.

Kirk Osborn, the attorney representing Reade Seligmann, filed three motions Monday. One motion makes it very clear that he will be going after the accuser's credibility.
Seligmann, 20, is one of two Duke lacrosse players charged with raping and beating an exotic dancer at a team party March 13.

Osborn will argue that Seligmann has an alibi.

Just after Seligmann was indicted by a grand jury last week, defense attorney's released a timeline of his activities during the night of the alleged incident, including a taxi driver, ATM receipt, and a time stamp swipe into his dorm room.

The second motion goes after the accuser and her version of the alleged rape. It requests all documents relating to her criminal, mental and health history. In the motion, Osborn also requested schools and disciplinary records from North Carolina Central and her high school.

The motion explains that the alleged victim has a history of drug and alcohol abuse that existed long before the alleged attack, and challenges her credibility.

According to a confidential police report obtained by Eyewitness News, the victim and defense attorneys for Collin Finnerty are expected to file similar motions this week.

From the beginning, the DA has been unprofessionally character assassinating the whole team. If the defense had remained quiet, the team would be seen as monsters by the whole nation instead of just half as it is now.

Those photos were only released to the public AFTER the DA refused to view them. The boys weren't even interviewed before the arrests. Who does that?
