Time for the Free Traders to chime in and insist that Exxon is just a buncha good ole boys never meanin' no harm, and that we should be glad to pay whatever they ask for gas because they're shining examples of the capitalist ideal.

The problem here isn't gas prices or profit, it's executive compensation. Exxon is the largest oil company in the world, so it's not a part time job running that organization, but doesn't this seem a bit excessive?

Don't pay for gas - use biodiesel, get powered by moonshine or fly a broom instead. Or maybe Hugo Chavez will take pity at you and give you some subsidized gas.

Let's see...We can't have an Arab owned company running a terminal facility....We can't have illegals INVADING our country....and We can't have CEOs getting great compensation packages from multinational corporations. Is a trend developing here on FR?

Yup. Shining examples. And when someone creates something that works better, we will buy that.
If you don't like Exxon, go to Shell and pay it there. Or maybe Texaco, or BP or Citgo. Then again, maybe we should drill off our shores and lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Or maybe get rid of gasoline taxes and boutique gasolines which drive proces higher.
Amazing, the left said we went to Iraq to steal their oil, yet prices are rising and we don't have their oil.

I'll get right on it... as soon as the Anti-Free Market bozos finish whining about how the government needs to step in and control the price of gas and limit how much money oil companies and their employees make.

Posts 14, 20, and 22 , to be exact, although I haven't finished reading the thread yet. It's like clockwork. Gas jumped again today (that's twice in one week) to $2.84 a gallon today in Northwest Ohio.
