Exactly. I kinda knew this is what alot here thought, but to read these posts is kinda unnerving. What do they think is going to happen?
The only people who have any such notion are:
1) The fringe of cranks on the left who have the notion that "conservatism" is about suppressing various sorts of "undesirables". This includes the organizers of this bit of political theater, who (as I noted earlier) believe their own propaganda about how Dubya is a Neanderthal redneck who will react by creating a Bull-Conner-like incident that can be exploited, and
2) The fringe of cranks on the right who have the notion that "conservatism" is about suppressing various sorts of "undesirables". There aren't enough of those to turn FR into bigot-central, though they are (regrettably) loud enough to create a noticeable bigot-nook-over-by-the-men's-room.
Its sanity was lost during the Schiavo charade and has yet to be regained.
